hmmm I've always had really good experiences the few times I've been up to One Brown Mouse. They have a small rotation of local growers that work there at different times, so maybe some bad luck there that hay smell day.

I just did a full review at www.thestrainman.blogspot.com on this place and you can see some quality pics of some of their meds. I LOOOOOOOVVVVVVEEEE their Cherry Lime Haze!!!!!!!!!! Just love it.

nice review, thanks for posting those man. im definitely going to head up the canyon to check that out soon.

anybody found any good cheese at the denver/boulder area dispensaries yet? BAM has some hydro b.s. they are selling as UK cheese, but its nothing more than overpriced beasters. they want 15 a gram for the 'cheese' but after smelling it i wouldnt pay 10. i really wish dispensary owners would just step up and say 'no thanks' to the bullshit weed. im sure they thought that it would provide a good 'cheaper' price for people not wanting to drop 20 a gram on the organics, but 15 a gram for beasters that smells like hay is a much bigger rip off, in my opinion.

especially with cheese. i mean, come on. i can usually identify the cheese by smell from 30 feet away. im just looking for some kind of quality control i guess-- do dispensaries just label the buds as whatever the grower told them it was, regardless of how it comes out? im not doubting that the genetics were uk cheese, but when its grown so poorly that the genetics arent reflected in the smell or taste whatsoever youve got to wonder....

AlphaG. Almost all of my friends that are caregivers live up that way and apparently many of the business have been hit hard by the recession. There is comfortably numb, gratful meds, brown mouse, A cafe in town is changing from a diner to a dispensary (they dont have a name) and I guess a few other people are looking as well. The few people I know who are in the biz up there are hoping to cash in on the "canna-tourist". Patients who come through town to hit up all the dispensaries then move on.

From what Ive seen quality is pretty hit or miss depending on who is bringing them meds.

We are finishing our location to open Tuesday in Longmont (by appointment only). My commercial real estate agent said he had about 12 calls from people looking to open stores in the Boulder area.

The scene is blowing up, pretty soon there will be a canna shop n every corner like starbucks.

Then its going to come down to who has the best meds, consistently, for the most reasonable prices.

That Atlantic article says "The registry card is actually optional under Colorado law--a doctor's note is sufficient...". Did I waste my money getting a card when all I really needed was a doctor's note?

Sufficient to buy medical marijuana, but it would get sketchy if you got pulled over by a cop and you had a bag. For those kinds of matters, you need to be on the registry so the cop can call in and confirm.

Medical marijuana shop stays open: Northglenn says business is unlawful
By Tammy Kranz | Staff Writer | August 27, 2009 10:38

A medical marijuana dispensary that opened Aug. 12 in Northglenn is still operating, despite a stop work order, a violation notice and court summons issued by the city.

"Business is good and being well received," Charles McGinness, co-founder and CEO of Green Medicals, said on Tuesday.

Green Medicals, 10781 Washington St. in Garland Center, is the first known dispensary to open in Northglenn.

Colorado voters approved an amendment in 2000 to allow the use of marijuana for medical purposes, which is contradictory to the federal law that maintains it is illegal to grow, sell or possess the drug. If City Council embraces the state law, it can set regulations.

Council decided during its Aug. 13 meeting to impose a moratorium, which was intended to keep the business from operating, until it had a chance to discuss the matter in more detail at a Sept. 3 study session. Meanwhile, the city says the business is unlawful under the city's public nuisance code because it is in violation of a federal law.

The city's neighborhood services supervisor visited the dispensary Aug. 19 and issued McGinness a violation notice with a Sept. 16 court date, according to City Manager Bill Simmons.

The fine for violating the city's nuisance ordinance could be up to $999 or one year in jail, said Celeste Olinger, public communications manager with the city.

"They said it was a nuisance to the community. I don't think it is, and I guess we'll talk about it on that court date," McGinness said, adding the city officials were nice and pleasant during that visit. "I did get a summons, which is bad, but they're talking to me about what I need to do, which is good."

However, McGinness said he doesn't believe the city shut down his business.

"Nobody told me to stop doing business. They gave me a summons to go to court, but no one told me to stop doing business," he said.

A city building inspector also issued a stop work order on Aug. 19 because of remodeling and electrical work done without the required permits. McGinness said he is in the process of addressing this issue and will be meeting with city officials again this week.

McGinness said he was told by Simmons that he needed to have a separate business and sales tax license for Green Medicals. Right now McGinness only has licenses for his Cricket store. McGinness said he needed to do more research with the state because he wasn't sure if that was necessary.

"I don't think I need a license for every different item in my store," he said.

Simmons said the city wouldn't grant McGinness any permits or licenses until council has decided the direction it wants to take on dispensaries.

The city of Northglenn is not alone when it comes to not having regulations in place for medical marijuana dispensaries. Westminster officials learned a month ago about two potential dispensaries within their city limits, said Mac Cummins, planning manager. It's difficult to determine businesses selling the product because they apply for business licenses under retail sales, not medical marijuana, he added.

"Staff has not had the conversation yet with council. We're researching the subject now," Cummins said, adding the research would include sales tax revenue brought in by the dispensaries and would probably take place this fall.

Thornton City Council is scheduled to discuss this matter during its study session on Tuesday.

Colorado is one of 13 states that have legalized marijuana for medical purposes.

There are approximately 9,000 registered users in the state, with 593 reportedly living in Adams County, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment's Web site, www.cdphe.state.co.us.

funny HIGHALTITUDE

you act quite elite yourself and quite slanderous of a general observation yet you go on to say you will charge $20 a clone. thats the same price everyone else charges

the following posted on you web site:

About them: They are not fooling anybody !

Tired of over priced, over hyped Dispensaries that all claim to be the best, offer the best and have the best prices? We all know they are all out to make as much money as possible! All of these places know very little about what strains they are selling, they have little to know knowledge on how to grow, dry, cure..and most buy anything there vendors offer them just to re-sell to med patients for top dollar. Even the clones they sell, they have very little knowledge where they come from & what strain they really are and how or what to look for when dealing with there vendors. Most of the clones in these shops are not what they say they are, most have pests/bugs/mold issues that you do not and should not bring home into your growroom ever! Bottom line is they dont care about there patients being its all about the money and a quick turnover for most of them. Why else would they charge $70 an 1/8 or $125 a 1/4 before Tax..when they get it for around $200 an ounce being they buy in bulk week in and week out.?!

in fact most of these places are not buying weed at 200 and ounce. most pay 250 plus.
they also have employees to pay, taxes, electric bill for location, rent for location etc.....

in short
your not fooling anybody MK

Here in Michigan, you can grow your own,or have a caregiver that grows for you. Needless to say, many so-called CGs have taken advantage of medical MJ pts by promising low prices and jacking them up to street price when the plants are grown. For pts that can't or do not wish to grow, there is no real way to make sure the CG you designate is legit or not. Pts pay the 100.00 fee to the state, the CG pays nothing, and gets to grow 12 plants for their pt. The tough part is that many MMJ pts are on disability or SSI. You have to be ill to get your approval in the first place.
