Medicinal SOG Strain to Recommend

I am looking for a low odor strain that is mostly sativa that would be great for a perpetual SOG grow. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi TW,
Be patient...we're thinking. There are some conflicting parameters there. Sativas often don't do so well in sog because of height.

Calling on my personal experience...go with White Widow. Actually I've heard that Mr. Nice's Black Widow is closest to vintage White Widow. Buy plenty of seeds...at least two packs and hope for a nice sativa pheno. I had one that was amazing. Strong, easy to grow, and nice to smoke (smooth) as well as being a low odor strain to grow. I'd finish with about 18" plants. 23 on a 3x3 tray using E&F. 9 or 10 oz per run. Can't really go wrong there. Nice balanced but sativa leaning high.
Peace,
ET

Thanks for the reply. I know im going for a organic soil plan so we will see what I end up going with. I have always figured that a sativa dom plant will be best for perpetual sog. Ill do a little more research. If anyone has any other recommendations for a strain please put in your .02. Thanks.

Satori from Mandala or Bambata from Tiki.
If you are not opposed to fems the CH9 Super Haze would work well in SOG I think (pretty centralized, height not difficult to control.)

^^ Agreed. Thanks for the info.

Although I pretty much know im going to buy from another store than seedbay (looking at dr chronic) b/c I made two different purchases at two different times; one in dec 08 and one in jan 09 from seedboutique with not a single successful mailing. I tried getting info on my purchases and where they were and they wouldnt tell me a thing. I even purchased online so that i will be notified and if i had any questions i would be able to get answers. So i will NOT purchase from them or their affiliates.

I am aware that this forum is in relation to those stores, but im not giving them any money so i could care less.

Hey, I don't blame you. They should be more reliable then that! I've purchased from Seedbay about 4 times now, but have had better luck.

I came up with another suggestion. I've bought seeds several times from an Ontario based medical seed seller called HighGrade Seeds. Decent prices. One strain in particular stands out (in my experience) as being a strong grower and good yielder. That is their sativa dominant Black Pearl strain. I've had great results with that strain and am currently growing a cross with White Widow x Black Pearl (the sativa dom WW I mentioned earlier). The plants are small, so far, but are twice the height as the other three strains I started. It's a wide leafed sativa without the nute sensitivity. Try it, you'll like it.

Thanks for the recommendation. Is that strain a low odor strain? You mentioned that ww is a low odor strain, im just curious if the same goes for black pearl.

TW,
I guess I neglected that consideration. It's certainly not a really smelly strain, but more-so then WW. Truthfully, I've only grown it in mixed gardens and so I can't give you a real accurate personal opinion. If you go to their site, they link the strains to Grow Reports on their forum. Perhaps you can find that info there.

I have quite a bit of experience with odor control, so if you want to discuss that...perhaps I can give you a few ideas.
Peace,

pick what strain you like, but choose your container wisely, because you can use it to control height, and flower before it gets 4 inches tall, start them in 3oz cups , then move to 18 oz cups,

Mandala's Satori would be nice for a SOG. Find the pheno that suits you best first - there is a bit of variation in that line when it comes to height.

from my experience the widow is not close to a suitable SOG plant!
i would go for:

-c99
-power plant
-super skunk
-shiva skunk (probably too much indica)

^^Thanks. Looks like i need to do some more research about the ww.

Hi Guys,
One thing I've noticed is that people use the term "sea of green" (sog) in a wide variety of ways. Traditionally, it's done on tables using clones that are vegged at most for a week. then into flower. Some trim the plant into a lollypop shape. Plants grown usually in hydroton E&F.

I spent almost two years growing White Widow in a Sea of Green environment. Bushier plants do fine in SOG with a little training. I found most of the work was merely to reposition the pots to minimize shadowing neighboring plants. (I used 23 5x5 pots on a 3x3 table...had three tables for a perpetual harvest).

So, in a lollypop style SOG. White Widow does great. Easy to grow and yields good. Especially if you find a sativa pheno. It's a smooth neutrally flavored smoke.
