So, i'm sat with a fat one.....again......and started wondering what we're gonna have to do if we never get the powers that be to decriminilize mj around the world...........

ICMag has around 20,000 members, and i'm assuming 99% of us can't legally grow/smoke our pot in peace and harmony like we should be able to.......

If all 20,000 of raised 5 grand each,that would make a pool total of 100 million(i'm talking pounds for arguments sake)!!!!!!

We could buy an island in the sun for that kind of dough, way big enough for 20,000 of us and plenty of room to grow tom hill or butte style!!!!

We could have our own toking kingdom!!!!!

i would love to live on an island. i live close to water but can only swim 4 out 5 summers cause of the crappy climate im in (summers are too chilly therefore water does not get warm). so yeah, a nice tropical island, im all for it.

Great idea but I would just visit now and again. I would be ok if pot stayed illegal, weather its legal or illegal I will still do what I do.

If I get pinched, I will get out and go back to what I was doing before.

In fact, most, if not all islands you can't actually buy, but rather lease for 99-years. You can't just purchase an island and declare sovereignty, if you did you had better be ready to defend it.

You know i remember when the smoking ban came into effect in the uk and there was this pub landlord who swindled the legalities of creating your own country to make his pub a country in its own right so his customers could smoke in his pub. Lol, wonder how the hell that worked?????????

Check the principality of Sealand, it's perfectly possible to declare sovereignty. An island on the thames has declared, as has sealand and a few other places. I wiki'd it a while ago when i had the same idea.

The key is setting up your own micronation, sealand had a very good way of being officially recognised too. They even fired shots at the UK Navy and got away with it. Helicopter assaults, it's like hollywood!

Sealand is an anomaly, it's not really an island but an old WW2 anti-aircraft deck, and most countries don't officially recognize it. "Sealand is not currently officially recognized as a sovereign state by any United Nations member." - taken right from wiki. The UK lets them keep doing what they're doing becuse they don't really care about an old, rusting, hunk of metal.

Check out what happened with millionaire Michael Oliver when he tried to create the sovereign nation off Minerva about 250-miles off the coast of Tonga.

This is a fantasy that I've had myself, it would be possible, but again you would have to be able to defend it with force, and possibly willing to die for it.

Some good sites if you are looking to buy an island.

This is pretty much my ultimate fantasy, the hardest part would be acquiring the means to defend yourself. No country would sell you arms unless you are official recognized, and that wouldn't happen unless you could defend yourself. Kind of a catch-22.

arms are available more easily than you think, it is not countries that sell them. they are sold by the private sector = business, not gov't. there are probably alot of armed folk that would move on, but you would have to support your troops .: establish some sort of government model to do it anyway to not be laughed off the world map.
