Moldy Bud ??

I just traded a zip of very good NYD for a large amount of moldy very good quality mid grade that was to moldy to re-sale. If i make bubble hash with this bud will there be any ill effects? I have the bags and have made it in the past and i kind of think it should be ok to smoke after its finished. Has anyone tried this before with moldy nugs? I will make it either way but i wondered if the hash quality will suffer or it has any potential to make you sick? Any advise on this will be appreciated.

My advice would be to not trade any more dank for moldy nugs In all seriousness though, I would not use moldy bud to make bubble, you would be better off doing an ISO run, since the alcohol would at least kill mold spores. Good luck.

I would use it in edibles....It will cook off any bad stuff....bubble MIGHT be ok, and BHO may be better...the butane should freeze out the bad too.
I do KNOW that edibles are the only safew way to use moldy nug IMHO

I might just try some butter, thats why i started this thread because i aint sure what to do yet. I couldnt pass up the large amount i got for 1 zip. I did smoke the non moldy portion of it and its pretty good bud. I never made butter but it seems simple and i would have a shit load if i done that. THX for your responce!!

there are some REALLY good recipes for very strong budder in these forums, check around...your originally sgitty find may be an awesome score!

Though voracious, mold is actually pretty fragile. If you add a cup of vinegar per 5 gallons of water, it will kill light mold and the taste.

I have stored hash pucks made that way for several months without mold rearing its ugly head later or anyone being able to taste mold or vinegar.

If it is too bad, I do BHO or just pitch it.

butane oil is the best way to go none of the mold will be in the oil ! ive donr this many times with moldy nugs! good luck

Thx everyone for the input. I decided to make a large batch of budder and a nice batch of butane. I dont think i will make bubble with it but i will decide after i try the butane way to see if i can get a decent amount per Oz. of bud. I just got back from the hardware store with everything i need to do the butane method. I dont want to make to much butter cuz i aint sure if it will last long. I picked out about 30 grams that did not have mold on it so i really aint out to much to start. I think i have around 17 or 18 zips to play with. I really aint fond of makeing bubble hash because of all the damn mess an so forth. I should make a batch of oil tonight when the fucking sun goes down because i want to do it outside to be safe and its hot and humid as hell today. Once again thx all for the advise! Lots of good threads here for all forms of hash

What about vaporizing? I have pure white cobweb on about 2.5g. I figure a vaporizer would surely destroy everything? Much better than using a flame and a bong.

wonder if hot-knifing would would do just as well, any ideas?

I've vaped moldy bud...tasted...moldy. Don't do it. BHO knows...

Mold may be easily destroyed but it may leave behind very nasty mycotoxins, potentially poisonous substances (some of which have psychoactive effects).

The only use I have for moldy bud is compost.

Cooking with moldy bud? Has to be the nastiest idea ever. Your best bet is to use solvents, iso or bho. I made bho from a quarter pound of moldy buds several years ago. Obviously not optimal, but it turned out OK. Better than composting it.

I was told, the mold spores were to small and in ice // bubble bags you would have strained the thc and left mold in the waste water

I used mine and a few friends also tried it. Nobody had any ill affects and couldn't tell any diferance in quality. I made budder and BHO.

Mold can contain toxins. It does not matter if you kill / cook the toxins. If you cook cyanide it does not change the fact that it can kill you. You should have made the hash b/c the mold would float while the trichs sink to the bottom.

Yeah agreed with the cooking comment, not highly recommended depends on the amount of mold present// how degraded the bud has become by the mold.. I would only do the ice method as long as it is true that the mold is caught in the water and than to small enough that it lands waste water

Read about what smoking moldy weed could do lol.. Chronic cold for life LOL not fun shit.. amongst other health risks
