anyone use Rare Earth??

FloraNova and Rare Earth should be everything. Seems like the only thing missing frome FN is Humic Acid and Silica, two very good things to have.

What are your thoughts on it? Around here it's only $7... Not much to loose, unless it's not even worth THAT.

I just started mixing it in my MSM mix.. I have only been using if for a couple weeks so i havent really seen any differences right now..
Im actually still trying to find out how to measure it because it gives you grams per a gallon.. so i measured out like 30 grams on a scale and it ended being like a shot glass worth.. but that amount seemed like alot to me per a gallon, so i cut it in half..

how are you measuring your dosage?

still looking to get some. I may just go with Silica Blast. From what IVE read FNova has Humic acid already and RE is silica and Humic acid. I think that the Blast is all I need... Then a few drops per gallon of Seaweed extract to bring the pH down again.

I had to quit the "grow" and my window-cill DFT faces south, so the room gets full sun and temps can get 78f-82f in the mid summer day. Some Blast I feel will help keep the bads out of my new berries.

MSM? is that from growtek?

I like the MSM Mix concept. I felt so unsmart when I saw that thread. I sat infront of those bags and couldnt make a decision, feeling like Ill go with one and wish I went with another... For that reason, I not NONE....lol

Well I went with Silica Blast. The GH support guy stated that there is Humic acid in the mix. Add to that the fact that everyone here says that FN is ALL that is needed.
So I thought adding a little Silica to that would make it stronger. I may try to find some straight Silica after I use the S.Blast up and just add a heap table spoon per 5gallons and call it a day though.

make sure to wear a painting mask or put a bandana around your nose/mouth when working with this stuff. It's really bad if you get diatomecious earth into your lungs because it will just stay there and for the rest of your life.

cheers mate

What makes RICH EARTHtm humate so unique? Arent there other humate mines in the world?
RICH EARTHtm is mined in Southeastern Utah in a dry, arid desert. The nutrients, as well as the high (14%) fulvic and (45%) humic acids content have never been leached out. Other humates cannot compare to the high quality of RICH EARTHtm. It is especially the high fulvic acids content that makes RICH EARTHtm stand out from all other humates. Plants need fulvic acids to grow strong, withstand stress, dry weather, and cutting.

RICH EARTHtm Soil Conditioner is derived from concentrated humic shale. It is listed by OMRI (OrganicMaterial Review Institute) for use in organic production. It contains 45% humic acid, 1.5 % sulfur, 2.5% Iron, and 70+ trace minerals. It is used to supplement marginal soil with low organic matter and salt problems. May also help aid in releasing unavailable micronutrients and increase water holding capacity. Makes an excellent addition to any compost or fertilizer program.

Humic shale is an ancient plant deposit that was created 75 million years ago in the upper cretaceous period. The four prominent plant groups at that time include ferns, cycads, conifers, and angiosperms (flowering plants like magnolia, ficus, and sassafras). Humic acids are a group of compounds created by the degradation of organic matter and are a portion of natures biological processes. Over time the deposited material has decomposed and reduced into humic, fulvic, and ulmic fractions.

afom is test driving it right now
so ...we'll see how it fares soon enough

as far as i'm concerned if it's 45% humic and 14% fulvic...shits gonna rock

Thanks for the info john. Im more interested in the silica, though Im sure there is some amounts of it in that stuff. The bottle of Blast only says 2%... wow that's not alot. So if there's even that much in earth, it'll be worth the the fulvic at least.

All this stuff is so much more importaint with veggies, Healthy feed = Healty food.
Peace

I'm looking to offset a bit of extra infra red and was curious if Rare Earth would help that situation a bit?

Funny that an unusual setup has me looking for silica, I wonder if the FNB already has enough?? I'm running about 150wpsqf with a 1000w HPS and have ditched the hood and hung the bulb vertically to help reduce the overbright. I know there's an awful lot of extra infra-red in there.

Anyone have ANY side by side comparisons at all?

Ok, so I went and picked up some Rare Earth and used it as a Foliar spray. I used a single teaspoonful in about a quart of water with a couple drops of Neem oil and a few drops of detergent. (Instructions call for a whole lot more but this was just a test)

Within 4 hours the softness and velvety feel of the plants had increased dramatically. Just went into the room (18hrs later) and the smell has increased 1000%. Where I used to rub the stems a bit and get a smell, the place reeks! They're only in veg and these were my "Low-Odor" strains LOL

Thumbs up for Rare Earth as a foliar spray. :D

Thanks for posting a followup. I've been wanting to add silica to my grow and picked up some by Dyna-Grow Pro-tekt but after hearing about Rare Earth I think I'm gonna get that instead.

I've read the instructions on the side of Rare earth and it suggests using it a tea. Have you experimented with that?

Thanks again

They put several different application suggestions on the side. As usual I would go slow and work up LOL

I used the bag they supplied and put about 40% of the amount they suggested in the bag and hung it in the res. If you want your pH to continuously jump up.... this is the ticket for ya! :D I didn't care for that.

The tea method is the hot water and stirring that I used for the Foliar spray and it works great. :D I guess you could add it directly to the res but I'm sure it would significantly spike the pH. I used probably less than a teaspoon with a quart of water and the directions call for an ounce.... waaaay more. Go sparingly and work your way up. :D

Stay Safe! :D

Well..... That was fun! NOT!

Remember I removed that bag of Rare Earth from the res? Yeah well, today when I checked the pH all the pH down I've added must have kicked in all of a sudden. 3.4 :yoinks:

Dumped immediately and re-filled. Bummer is.... I'm broke and can't even get any RO water for a few more days. Tap water at 250ppm with 100+ppB of that being arsenic for 5 days? Crappo :( Wish me luck!
