5lb First Grow? Vertical DWC Buckets with 2400 Watts

This is my friend's first grow. He has spent a lot of time on these forums soaking up all the knowledge he could and has put together what he thinks is a pretty solid garden.

Room: 6' L X 7'W X 8'H closet. IR blocking mylar on all walls, pond liner on floor, and foam weather stripping around the door to make it light proof.

Method: 30 DWC buckets (3 gallon). Buckets are lined around the perimeter of the closet. There is a shelf all the way around the closet at 4' from the floor to allow for a second level.

Genetics: 12 Autofem Easy Ryders
3 Nirvana Pure Power Plant
3 DNA Chocolope
5 Paradise White Berry
And some dinafem freebies

Nutrients: Canna Aqua

Water: RO

Meter: Hanna Combo

Lights: Lights are hung vertically from the ceiling in connected cool tubes. They are powered by 2 Lumatek Dual 600w Digital ballasts.

Veg(18/6): 1200 watts (1 600 MH Conversion; 1 600 Hortilux EYE)

Flower: 2400 watts (4 600 Hortilux Eye)

Ventilation: There are 2 AC vents bringing fresh air into the closet and a 6" 454cfm canfan in the attic exhuasting the room when the temp reaches 80 degrees.

CO2 will be added during flowering.

What do you think? Any ideas for improvement? Do you think 5lbs (1gram/watt is possible)?

that's alot of autoflowering plants for your expected yield. wouldn't expect those to be over an ounce each.

you're going to have your hands full with all those strains and different phenos, as it looks like you're growing from seed.

make sure those shelves are super secure so you don't risk your plants falling into the lights and starting a fire.

have heard good things about the chocolope (c99?), PPP, and whiteberry.

Remember, especially with nirvana genetics, sometimes you have to run a bunch of seeds to find a really nice one, though that really nice one will probably be in there somewhere. just more often 1 of 10/20/30 and not something like 3 of 10 being really nice phenos.

not trying to be all negative bro, just figured i'd point some stuff out that others might be too nice to say. best of luck

Welcome bkob89, Stay Frosty, and FirstTracks! Thanks for checking out the grow.

FirstTracks-
First, let me say that I appreciate you taking the time to point this stuff out.

Actually he picked the Autofem Easy Ryders because they are supposed to be pretty high yielding (relative to other autos obviously). 2-3ozs do not seem to be uncommon. I guess we'll find out though.

Thanks for the advice on the shelves. Each shelf is rated for 500 pounds (a little overboard I know) so it should be ok.

As for the different strains, he knows he will be busy. Luckily, he doesn't have much else on his plate right now. That's always why he didn't want to build a RDWC setup. This way, each plant can be managed without effecting the others.

thirdcoast:sounds like you've got it under control :rasta:
good to hear about those easyryders having reports of high yields. hopefully they hit the high end of the yield spectrum for your friend!

SInce he has the time, hopefully those individual dwc buckets will let him max out each plant/keep each one super healthy without compromising to try to feed everything the same nute mix.

are the canna aqua nutes- a line of nutes? 2 or 3 part nutes? (does he have)any experience with them? I'm curious about them, only reason im asking :joint:

i'll be tagging along. always interested in a vert grow.

Canna has different product lines for Soil, Hydro, Organic, and Coco grows.

My friend is/will be using the following following Canna's grow guide:

Aqua Vega A/B
Aqua Flores A/B
Canna Rhizotonic
Canna Cannazym
Canna PK 13-14
Canna Boost

He doesn't have any experience with them except for the past 4 weeks. As a COMPLETE hydro newbie, he has found them to be pretty straightforward and easy to work with. They are expensive as hell but, according to some friends in Holland, well worth it. He hasn't had any problems with PH.

I use Canna nutes and really like them. Not too happy with the price, but the results more than make up for that.
I CAN tell you that with that many plants in that small of a closet he is going to have one hell of a time when they go into flower keeping them all supported. I ran the same sized closed setup for 8 years and the the best setup with DWC was 6 plants. I did do up to 10 in there once, but it was so crowded that it ended up being a mess. And with the 6 I was getting a consistant 4-6 ounces per plant depending on strain.

So all I can say is, Good luck getting 5lbs from the grow and I am not being sarcastic either.

Glad to hear someone has had good experience with Canna. The nutes are pricey as hell, but everyone keeps saying that it will be worth it.

As for support during flowering, he is still contemplating how he wants to handle that. A vertical scrog seems very tempting.

He knows that 5lbs is very ambitious, particularly for someone with no experience. Honestly, anything over 2lbs will be considered a success. With all the research that has been done, 1g/watt sure would be nice though!

my only concern would be that you are running the Hortilux bulb in a 600 watt Lumatek.Has the known problem been fixed??I use Ushio specifically because of this.Otherwise nice setup man, it's good to aim high but I don't think you will get 5lbs. Maybe, maybe 3.nuggler
