1k scrog

Hey experts,

I was toying with the idea of a 1k in a 8X8 room for a medical grow and I was wondering what the best size scrog to go with? It seems like there should be a section on scrog but I couldnt find it. Anyways thanks in advance for you thoughts.
Peace

hi cindiwaa, I think a 4x4 scrog would do well under 1k a 3x3 would prolly be better less veg time and more of the total plant/s would get better light.

4x4 ok sounds good, any differance if I put one plant or 20 under the scrog? I wish there was a sticky on scroging...Thanks for the info

Scrog is usually for few plants and longer veg. If you want say 20 or 30 plants then a SOG would be more efficient.

also a stadium style would be even more effecient if your bulb is horizontal.
but to answer your original question 8X8 is good. I would screen 4 to 6 plants depending on strain and fill up a good 60% of the screen then flower.

OK this is good info...So 4-6 is plenty of plenty to fill up a 4x4 scrog 1k room and veg for what? a month? i was reading about the quantum digi w/dimmer and thought that maqy be perfect. I guess I just veg till its full or full enough. Can you over veg in Scrog? and would a light mover be benefitial ? seems a 4x4 scrog would get plenty of light but what do I know? Oh and are there any strains that do better in the scroog? I think we prefer the Indica's.
Thanks again,
RG

To be honest you can scrog an entire 12X12 room with 1 plant. Can I ask you why you want to scrog? Most of the time it's to keep the amount of plants to a minimum/keep an even low canopy and still yeild as much as say a dozen smaller plants. The trade off is the amount of time you need to veg and feed. Also you can simply get the same effect by simply using a bit of LST.

I would suggest you do a bit more research before asking a very simple and broad answer. Here is a great place to start

why do i want to grow scrog? Lets see for one when we got our recomendations and saw the prices at dispencerys and we were concerned about spending 400-500 a month on medicine. So we buy a 600 watt light and off to our first grow we go. Of course we spent hours of time researching and researching and researching, btw great link you provided. well the first grow went well. 5 of 6 plants were really good medicine with good/average yield,(ok first grow we were just excited it freaking worked and helped with the wife chemo side effects) but putting one plant on the floor and another on a bar stool and others on coffee tables and boxes and sheesh what a pain trying to keep them all at the same height. I am kinda familiar with differant setups and went with pvc and trellis scrog, it seemed like the way to go, fairly easy, ya right! nothing is easy, So it just seemed like the best way to avoid all those small popcorn bud, Of course removing lower growth would take care of that. We grow in dirt, we used air pots because they seem cool and cutting edge but who knows. I don't know if i really answered your question because there really isnt a particular reason it just looked like it was the best bang for the buck since our electric bill has gone up a bit and haveing a canopy the same height for the light sounds good, though I really wanted to try the colliseum method the scrog seemed to fit our needs. Sorry about rambleing on...

If you're growing more then one strain scroging can become difficult if not impossible when the plants are in tight and tied down. Once they are in flower you can no longer tie them down as well and the sativa dom plants will outgrow the indicas and voila your scrog is ruined and worthless.
i would suggest you learn and master the art of LST and supercroping if you plan on running polar hybrids. Learn the characteristics of each strain and veg/tie down/bend plant accordingly.

The only advantage to a scrog in your case would be the ability to tie down the plants in anyway you want on the even net as opposed to tying them down to the bucket which is a hassle if you're only gonna grow 6 monsters.

An even canopy with mulitple strains is daily hard work. No getting around it.

If this is a legal grow I would suggest you do a SOG with as many plants as you're allowed. You will harvest quicker and you'll have bigger buds with less popcorn. Just dont veg out the sativa dom strains as long as the indica and be more aggressive with tying the sativa down.

Yes this is a legal grow, well as far as the state goes , I think the feds are playing by a differant set of rulze but anyways, yes legal state medical grow. So since the wife and I both have recomendations your saying do a SOG with 12 plants in a 8x8 room with a 1k light and train the canopy to stay as level as possible? Veg for a month and let them rip? or just get 12 well rooted clones from harborside, they have a great variety, and start them at 12/12 right away? See there are so many differant ways of growing it really does boggles my mind. Thanks again for you help/suggestions. I will incorporate some of you ideas!
Peace out

Honestly if I were you, I would get as many clones as possible, put them in a few gallons of soil each, veg them all for a week and flower them SOG style and just LST or supercrop any of the really stretchy ones. This way you can try all the strains and know which one you like best. Now you know what you like and want for your next grow. You get this clone again or reveg the plant you harvested and make it a mother. Now your all set up for a super simple sog. All clones from the same mother will grow the same height as long as they get the same light/veg time and pot size.

As for the cost, from cutting to harvest SOG is quicker and will yeild bigger buds thus its cheaper in the long run You can harvest say three times a year instead of two. If you use only one strain or two very similar strains in terms of height then you wont have to do any tying down or raising of pots on boxes :)
