Spending the day Wiring New Lighting

L

Heehee, wonder why I have leftover parts? LOL

Spending the whole day replacing the lighting at Lola's Pad.

Now I got dragonflies staring at me with red glowing eyes! I'm not sure if I like this chandelier or not! Tiffany or not!

My living room sorta looks like a bordello now with all this stained glass!

Anybody else ever have all these leftover parts when they hang lighting? heehee....

It was stained glass, davenport sofas & velvet draperies
as the decor in the first bonafide hippie pad I ever saw.

sounds groovy.......

EEEeekkk! Hey Ya'll! Went to remove one fixture to replace it with a ceiling fan and the cheap China made wiring was melted! What a trip.

Good thing I decided to pull that fixture or my house would've burned up!

Ya'll better check those China made light fixtures at your houses! JUNK! (and sold by JC Penny's)

good advice Sleepy, but I am doing ceiling fixtures! My house is only like 10 years old!

The fried fixture I got in 2001 or so, so it's not old or anything.

I think I am near crippled! Ceiling fans needs 2 people to put up easily! :biglaugh:

I had that durn fan on top of my head, balancing it and wiring the wire nuts... heehee.

I have done the one man/person install many times...(Damn those li'l buttons on the top of a hat!!!:fsu:)
If you had melting...I hate to say it, but it is because of faulty installation!!
If the wires do not have a positive contact, they will arc...that is the only way possible for them to melt--:yeahthats

It was a stained glass fixture, only supposed to put 2 60 watt bulbs in it. I think 2 25 watt bulbs would have been more than it could stand?

It got so hot in there that all the plastic melted on the wires. It looked charred and I could see the bare wire inside.

No damage noted to the wiring in the house.

Fixture was working fine..... lol.

I am gonna hafta fire that damn wiring genius around here if it is faulty installation... heehee...

This fixture did not look so busy amongst all the other stained glass fixtures for sale, but alas! I think it is a tad bordello ish for me...

After all that work, it's gonna stay up fer a while...

Ya know, I don't think that's going to work for growing.

Not that I'm ,,, like single minded or anything.

Hahahahaha, true that! The worst part is when it's an interior room and there's no light switch in the room, you gotta flip the breakers and either fumble in the dark, resulting in a broken ceiling fan and glass everywhere, along with a couple broken ribs and a fractured wrist, or hold a flashlight in your mouth, resulting in a cramped and clicking jaw for a couple days, and STILL a broken ceiling fan, glass everywhere along with a couple broken ribs, a fractured wrist AND a flashlight lodged in your throat...

Now,,,, don't get me wrong Lola, it's purdy and all BUT?

Can we do this with it?
.

On the other hand, dual air cooled 1000'd on a light rail,,,, well,, not likely to impress the neighbors!! LOL

and btw- I don't know about newer stained glass lamps, but the vintage ones use low wattage bulbs. Excess heat will make the lead stretchy and loosen the glass.
