HELP! Venting issues

Im starting a small grow in a hallway closet that measures 2'x3' and 7' tall, the door closes completely shut like a normal door and I would have to have the door closed most of the time. In order to reduce smell I will also need to have some kind of cabinet or small tent to contain everything in and exhaust it through a carbon filter. My question is, will a closed door allow for enough air to be drawn in for the intake? Also, is it okay to have the exhaust going straight back into the closet?

Depending on the lamp used, you could easily turn your closet into an EZ Bake Oven. I wouldn't trust the door gap to feed any but the smallest fans. Failure to remove air from the closet will prevent cooling. That requires air exchange.

Consider a vent in the door like those used for central air/heating. It wouldn't look too out of place as people see them in homes all the time. Can you punch a hole in the ceiling?

unfortunately i cant cut a hole in the ceiling because i live on the bottom floor of an apartment. and since i rent i cant really cut a hole through the door for a vent either. but yes ive seen that done through he door and it does look clean. however i am going to be using cfl lighting, so maybe heat wont be an issue?

Heat will still build up as you will basically recirculate most of the heat, unless your running a very low wattage CFL grow or your apartment is relatively cool. If you could leave the door open most of the time and only shut it when necessary then you might be ok. I would try to build a stealth cab outside the closest if you can though.

yes I would like to put it outside the closet but the only reason i wanted it inside is because it is a locking closet and i can contain everything in there and keep people out if i wanted to. anywhere else would not be as secure.

The EZ Bake oven used a single light bulb. In a small enough space with no air exchange you can cook a cake. Unless you do AC, you need air exchange. If you can't punch holes in floor, ceiling and/or walls, you're growing in a death trap.

Get a high temp shutoff switch, then you can just chill out and let it cut the lights out to cool down now and then, then you can play with your ventilation, light distance, flowering times, etc... until its not turning off to much for your preferences. If I wanted to I could just let my plants touch my light in an 85F room I just would be OFF a lot to let it cool down

hey dude this might not apply to you but in my old apartment i vented directly into the wall.

the way i figured out if it would work is one day i was wrestling with my friend and we knocked a hole in the wall. to my surprise there was a strong ass current of air sucking into the hole because of the central a/c. I figured out that i could just exhaust into the wall of my closet. intake is another issue, but check it out.
