I got permission to grow! What strain though?

Well... I got permission to grow outside, I would've prefered inside because I spent a good 24 hours researching it in the past three or four days.

Anyways, I'll get right to the point. I want to know which strain is best for a first-time grower outdoors. I can devote a lot of time to it, and I have a budget of around 500 dollars. What should I get, and what strain should I grow?

I'm going to be checking out the growing outdoor forums after this, tryin' to soak in as much information as possible.

Well, I'm looking for what most people are, a good hardy plant that gives a good yield. One that isn't extremely hard to maintain, but I can put in a lot of hours. I want one that gives a good head high as well.

Holy so when will you be starting this? Will it be up in Nor cal? If it is in nor cal it is a bit late thinking it just will start to flower before it gets any veg on. Shoots I would get something that you have smoked and really enjoyed. If there is any way you can get your hands on some inexpensive CFL's and veg for a month then throw outdoors in a quality soiless mix. Get your hands on some good soil like oceans forest or organics stuff it is blended well and has proper nutrients and ph. Hope this helps some. Try Super Skunk, it´s easy to grow and gives good production. Quality is usually good if grown right.

Yeah I planned to veg em inside, I figured that's the way it's done.

It's not Nor Cal, it's bay area, but I plan on starting the last month of Winter so that by the time they're done vegging it'll be okay to put them outside.

MidCal is where I'm at, I can't start the grow now, I still need to get all the lights / soil / find a good spot where my neighbors can't see. But at one of my neighbors houses there are a bunch of stoners living there, I might be able to get seeds from there, or maybe even sell them a little bit.

I really love Purple Kush, I went this entire summer smoking it every day. White Dwarf, although I never smoked it looks like a strong strain.

Another good one I've smoked is Green Crack, but I'm overall not sure.

Definitely helps, iriee, now I have somewhat of an idea of what I gatta do.

So outdoor grows get a much higher yield, how many ozs would yall say I'd get from a Purple Kush or Green Crack plant?

I might do multiple strains just to test it out, like one Kush, one G.C., maybe even a skunk plant.. But I don't know off of the top of my head, I'll have to look into it more.

I'll go to OSH or somethin' n buy some good organic soil.

I might also get a little secret sea of green indoors going, but that'll be pretty far in the future.

Oh wow, in the middle of this post I was scanning some other strains, found one called "Mikado" looks perfect for what I'm going to be doing.. Says it can yield up to a pound per plant!

Anyone know where I can get some Mikado seeds? Or maybe even a baby clone of it?

It is too late for starting an outdoor in Cali and Santa Cruz is too close to the ocean to grow outdoors anyway; you'll get bud rot by being that close to the ocean. You need to be at least 25 - 30 miles away to do an outdoor grow.

For those who do not know what he meant by "I got permission"; it means he has a Prop 215 medi card. Permission grated by the state! That's a good thing!

BTW, I'll be moving out to that area (Humboldt Co) in a month! I can't wait.

anyways.. Humboldt I've heard is very, very depressing and is dangerous. Although their entire economy is based on weed and fishing, it's pretty depressing, and the people there take the laws into their own hands.

Is there any way I can possibly fight bud rot and still grow here? The only other option is growing indoors, and my dad doesn't want that. But I might be able to get a sea of green in my closet w.o him knowing, but I dunno we'll see.

I'm about 5-10 miles away from the ocean I think, is there any way at all to stop bud rot?

I agree it's to late to start an outdoor grow, but my friend grew in containers in her backyard in Santa Cruz with no problems.

19 turning 20 ...

Yeah I already know it's too late this year to start an outdoors grow, I was thinking about starting to germinate them on the last month of winter, and then by the time they're done vegging I can plant em' outside.

Owl Mirror, if you took that as I'm going to be a dealer, I'm not, I just know the guys next door, and they're real chill.

You twist my words so they sound really bad, that's really annoying -.-.. I'm not trying to be some sleezy dealer, I want to do this for fun mostly.

Plant them in the ground after that with some soil, or do I put them outside in bigger pots?

I would recommended GHS feminized white widow. I've grown it outdoors and in greenhouses. It's hardy, grows very fast, resistant to mold, heat and stress. The yield is very nice as well. Very potent head high. Satori is very nice as well.

This is my current white widows 2 weeks into flower.

First rule you need to learn is DONT TELL ANYONE, Don’t tell the stoners next door what you’re planning, don’t ask for seeds/clones, don’t tell your friends, and don’t sell it.

The stoners across the street will probably steal your plants before you harvest them. IMO THE ONLY WAY TO GORW SAFE IS TO TELL NO ONE, I don’t even smoke my home grow with friends, It avoids all questions like, Where’s that from, can I buy some, etc etc.

I'm not being harsh or having a go at you but what your planning is illegal, You dad obviously trusts you, so repay the trust by respecting him

If your loud mouth or dealing activities get you busted he’s the one who will be in a lot of trouble, If he is giving you the chance to grow you need to be mature enough to keep it a secret and safe, to keep his ass out of trouble
