forgot to switch my 1000w. ballast

I have a switchable ballast.Does anyone know what will happen if anything, when you forget to switch the ballast from M.H to HPS. thet are sun system digital 1000s...

dunno but i only have a cheep ballast and it works fine with m.h and hps. i belive that didital ballasts r the same, if it has a lumins boost then u carnt use m.h with it on but works fine with it off.

Thanks for the reply... I talked to the guy i bought my lights from and he said it should be ok also..

MH bulbs don't need an ignitor while hps lights do. So all it did is to try and start the hps bulb without an ignitor. Probably started a little slow would be my guess.

I'd try and avoid doing it the other way around. The hps ignitor could damage a mh bulb. But I'm sure you learned your lesson. lol

Ya thanks,

I vegged for 2 months for my purple kush, with the good bulbs, MH hortilux blue and their is little fragments inside the bulb, probably from being on HPS for 2 months... All seems to be ok, the girls are 27" tall to 27 to 28 wide...
They will be great.my last pk only got 13 to 14" and that stuff is still rockin...

bearclaw....I've had several Hortilux Blue bulbs with small glass frags inside. They arrived that way after shipping. I don't think it was caused by the HPS igniter.

That is good news... those bulbs are alot of money....but i think worth it. They through out so much more light...
