Question About DWC

Ive got a question about a DWC setup, how full is it supposed to be? LOL i know this might seem like such a stupid question, but the books ive got dont really say. Also, how much would one approximate getting from 6 DWC in 5 gallon buckets, under a 600 watt HPS. Im trying to gauge how much ill have each cycle. Thanks again.

some people like to have a few inches between the bottom of the pot and water level and some like it to the bottom of the pot just see what you plant likes best
that is once they have roots hanging from the bottom

It depends on medium and your aeration. If you are using hygromite and have good bubblage you would start seeds with water at the bottom of the pot. hydroton submerge halfway. Rule of thumb - make sure 3 roots are 3" in the water at all times in the early stages. Make sure the outside of net pot is getting moist but not soaking at least halfway up.

Thats for 6" net pots, for 8" I wouldnt really lower the levels that much below the pot because the pots are so tall the upper roots need moisture too

Seedlings need to have direct contact with the water supply. Once roots are large enough to span a 1" gap, drop the water level 1" below the pot. I allow my gap to drop to 6" before topping off. But, I have a Ton-O-Bubbles.

Can't help you with 600 yields but, I can say my single plant 250 DWC has me buried alive.

Thanks for the replys. Im planning to start in rockwool cubes, then move to the dwc system after the 1st couple weeks. Still torn between vegging with 6 5 gallon buckets, or if using a big rubbermade would be better and swiching to individual buckets when going to flower.

NMS....your last sentence is how i run my show --- i veg under T5's in 3" netpot with hydroton until its time for 12/12 -- i then put the 3" netpot into an empty 5" netpot and refill with more hydroton -- then into separate 5 gall buckets. i had issues with the plants staying erect ( he he he ) with only the small netpots. i could only really get 3 or 4 plants under a 600 watt.....guess it depends on strain and set up if you could yield more.

lastly....i get roughly 3 oz per plant after trim and dry.....

I was running 6 bubble buckets under 1 600 on a mover in a 3x5 space and I would get no less than 1 lb and the most I got was 1.5 lbs from it. Strain had a lot to do with it. Good luck
