I'm not from the UK but heard about royal mail on strike.

I went to youtube to search some videos and noticed a lot of videos with the title "royal mail morons" and it seems like royal mail isnt so good, and a lot of people don't like them over there.

If this is the case then why are they going on strike? I've heard a lot of stories about them stealing peoples mail a lot, too.

that guys seems drunk......

and this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkYZLRxQZGg&feature=related

and LOL... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KspWgk0q6nY&feature=related

What are the hiring guidelines over there? Makes me uneasy ordering stuff from UK now. In the USA it's pretty tough getting a job for the postal system.

Are your family in the same UK :chin: lol

The above should read "the most expensive service in the world" and even then there is no guarantee that it will arrive,, even when you've paid extra to guarantee it will.

1st class or 2nd class,, there aint no difference no more! it all comes the same day!

Plus the ques at the post office these days are like living in a backward place..!

Please , stop pulling wool over our eyes... :D

yeh bro there is losda bad press about them ...i think that more about the strike bit and people not getting there mail for a few days...big fucking deal i say (jobs are more important in my book) if the british public where in more supportive intead on moaning am sure it would move along faster....i could guarantee the public would soon have to say something if royal mail went under and thay had TNT, DHL, UPS,,to deliver the post....britain would come to a stanstill....

i think it depends where you live if you get good service. where i'm living now i've never had a problem, everything turns up on time and in good condition. but when i was living at another part of the country my mail would go missing and turn up tampered with. they found out one postie had been stealing post for years. they searched his house and found piles of stolen post.

I can't really fault the Royal Mail. City Link, however, genuinely suck. You order something off of Amazon, then come home in the evening only to find a piece of card telling you that you weren't home so they wouldn't deliver your item. The only information they give as to when the order will arrive is a date and approximate time, which is usually from 9am to 2pm. So you either have to write off most of your day just to receive the item, or go to their depot and pick it up, which completely voids the point of you getting delivered in the first place as you could just purchase the item from a shop and not have to bother with paying postage and packaging and waiting around. A couple of times I've actually stayed at home and waited for the City Link delivery man to turn up, only to be told (after being sat at home waiting for hours) that nobody was home so they will attempt delivery again the next day.

see its wanks like him that give the company a bad name...but then again it happen in all lines of work ,,,,if you cant handle the temptation/have no raspect for people property,,you should not be working with mail/parcels...

Postal insurance isn't always practical..!!!

Here's my tips on the same subject from a different thread:

postal tip 1: always state that the value is worth slightly more than the goods on 'Special (chop your arm off) Delivery' UK to UK,, this way your quids in when the goods dont arrive!

postal tip 1b: do the exact opposite to avoid growers overseas having to pay import tax ,, anything under a tenner is free

postal tip 2: don't even waste your money on 'sign-for',, we've lost / been robbed 100's of seeds ,, from outstanding genetics like that!

Let's just hope that the thieving-b's down in the sorting office grow the seeds they steal,, lol

Postal Tip 3 : Good luck,, these days it's like a lottery!

I have been using the royal mail for ingoing and outgoing mail for years, and like with any other service populated by humans we have at times experienced a few problems.....but overall I can say that the service has worked 99% of the time....

......any service mail or otherwise can suffer from human error, theft or sheer incompetence....no matter where you are....

....if they are striking for more pay then why don't they just up the price of stamps to cover it?

Royal Mail takes billions of pounds via the advertising flyers and junk mail they distribute with the mail. This alone should pay for the postal service. Over 50% of the mail is recycled,, pure advertising,, not real mail.

Royal Mail are cutting corners and the punters who pay for the service are suffering as a result. The closure of rural post offices is just one example. Even the lady at the post office agrees that "sign-for" mail isn't worth the paper it's printed on !?!

Try posting yourself (or someone) x2 letters on the same day. One 1st Class stamp, and one with a 2nd Class stamp. They'll both arrive the same day.. several days later.. lmfao :biglaugh:

Special Delivery works fine,, but its costs more and more cash each time to go to the post office and guarantee that something will arrive. I blame ebay!! haha

Peace n love

Royal Mail delivery should be like the Lollipop Lady (green crosscode man)... give the key to the grey holdal box to a trusted and respected member of the community,, that lives on the same streets,, preferably an OAP ,,and pay them to deliver hand mail instead.

The vans can then drive about dropping of suspect packages,, and handmail sacks to holdal boxes as normal :D

Royal mail ..... you should try living in Ireland where there is no first or second class you just pay and take your chance!!! I sent a letter to my mates company thats 7 miles away it took two weeks to get there.... only one sorting office on the whole Island.........

As for unions they did it to them selves 90% of union leaders only want whats best for them damn everyone else even if it means the government has to find the money to pay these extra wages and bonuses .. who do you think will have to pay for these??

Were seeing it now in Ireland the unions had it good for years with benchmarking but now that times are hard and the Gov wants to cut public sector pay they are all in tears and strikes its a total joke!!!!

Rant over ....
