If I add a 600w to my veg room, will it trigger flowering?

Hey guys in my current veg room I got the ladies under two t12 fluros which run 24hours a day, but I wanted to add a 600wHPS in there and run it on 12/12, the reason for this is to cut back on electricity costs.

However, Im worried....will this trigger my ladies to start flowering? Thanks for the input:joint:

Are you saying leave the flouros on 24 and supplement that with a 600w hps for 12 hrs?
or
run both the flouros and the 600 for 12/12 instead of 18/6

sorry for the confusion but me stoned!

I would not bother with the hps until you switch to 12/12. You want to cut down on the elctricity from the floros? Yeah go 18/6. Unless you've had them going like that for a long time - you wouldn't necessarily have problems but that's just asking for some kind of stress/hermie sheet. So yeah go 18/6 and save the hps until you flower. IF you really wanted to have a good harvest you could keep the floros going during flowering with the hps - 12/12 of course, same schedule as the hps. I hope that's obvious? Good luck!

Yes the fluros will stay on 24 hours and have the 600w run on 12/12, i figure this would save me some cash on running the hps, while helping my ladies grow a little bigger. Thanks

ok... I'm soberer now. your asking if it will trigger the plants because the light will be much dimmer for half the day.

Well, I've never done that exact thing but back in the day I would bring my plants indoors and put them under flouros to keep them in veg. The flouros were WAY dimmer than the sun was in early spring. I've also use a 400w security light at about ten feet away from my outdoor plants to supplement the sun and keep em veggin. The strain I was growing at the time didn't mind. That being said, not sure what your growing or how it will handle it. mine never showed any stress.

I personally feel you'll be fine. but I would hate for you to take my advise and have something go wrong. I'd wait for other to chime in. I'M A COWARD I guess. LOL

holy crap.... I'm confused too.

Why even bother with the HPS????

Get you a Metal Halide to supplement those floros....

Fuck that.... Scrap the floros altogether... They are not intense enough... Run a Metal halide 24hrs....

You will be pleased.

Cause the hps is the only high powered light i have, and yes I know the fluros arnt the best, and even tho i would love to run a metal halide 24 hours, its just not an option right now with money being tight and bills being high....

Which is why I was wondering if the twelve hour light cycle will trigger my ladies to start flowering, and lol sorry this is so confusing for everyone.
