Always seems to me that the reservoirs with the most problems are those with the most preventatives: LiquidCraptastic™ - SuperSlimeBuilder™ - InstaRot™ - BudsBDead™.
Info I heard is that they are exactly the same thing. They had the change the product information on the label in order to keep selling it in Cali. Watch out for old bottles of Hydroguard still being sold. Hydroguard has an expiration date on it
It's the same great group of beneficials as Hydroguard but the label has changed for legal reasons. I don't grow without it. It keeps away ALL root diseases (pythium, slime algae, botrytis, etc). 10ml per gallon to start and only occasional addbacks during the grow. Ive started putting my rooted clones in water with only beneficials like Aquashield for the first couple days. It inoculates the roots before anything harmful can set up in the rootzone. Adding a fungus supplement like Subculture-M along with it will make your roots indestructable.
I have an out of date bottle of hydroguard and a new aquashield and they look and smell the same, so I think that the rumors of them being the same are true. I wouldnt grow without it. Some people never have reservoir problems, but for some reason, I frequently did, root rot and reservior crapola despite a refrigerated root zone and despite trying to be clean and careful. Ive not had any such problems since using hydroguard and soon to use aquashield.
Thanks for the replies, the reason I asked is my buddypicked some up at the hydro store they recommended it because he had white mold growing in his res on the sides and hoses.
They said this will stop it from happening again.
