I have a mother plant only of this strain, the seeds where given to me by a breeder in Canada, in 1999. He was a private breeder for a large production club in BC. He said that they are direct offspring from Pure Skunk#1 seeds from 1989 I was gifted 10 seeds 7 got crushed, the 3 seeds finally got grown in 2005.

SADLY NO MALES! 1 didn't sprout, 2 where females, one died after 2 yrs of cloning,, the females where very stable and look almost identical, even the smoke was almost the same, slight variation is taste. As fate would have it I still have the best one. I will be making FEM seeds of this plant soon ,, but what I really want to do is perserve the genetics from this lone female. I need to know where and if anyone can find seeds that would match this generation/version/pheno, so i can breed it true. I need to do something soon as she is getting almost 5 yrs old now. I dont want to be to late and make the seeds now, before she finally chooses to go down hill due to age.

I have a small clone of it flowering now,, at day 8 of 12/12 I will update with pictures to show you how it turns out, I also have 10 more clones rooting now,, and will go in with the other in about 9 days.

So the search begins.

I have a Skunk #1 male that is dropping pollen everywhere. I got all I need from him and it is going into the freezer. I was going to kill him off tomorrow.
Where are you located? What are you looking for in a male? This guy doesn't have very many Trics, but he has Vigor, Matured Early and has a Nice Skunky smell mixed with Sweet undertones.

I guess i should have been more clear at what i am trying to do. I am in search of a male or pollen that is close as possible to the generation of my 1989 Skunk#1. My Skunk#1 89' has avery sweet fruity flavor with stong skunky undertones.

I would check out "The Pure" thread in the TFD forum, lots of good info there.

I just finished a couple of The Pure's. I wasnt lucky enough to find anything skunky. What I did find was one nice pheno, good yeilder, moderate bag appeal, very low odor, not much smell when cured, very slight incensy flavor. High is well balanced and enjoyable, it is actually very similar to a MNS SSH I had the grow before this one. Finished in about 70 days or so, its a nice smoke but I wouldnt say its the best I've ever had. I kept a mom around so I can try her out again when I can keep temps a little lower and give her more veg time. The other pheno I had was a lanky sativa, with very airy buds, not much bag appeal at all, a decent trippy energetic high, that last maybe like an hour and a half, the nice thing is you can smoke this stuff multiple times a day and still get high. Not much for flavor or smell. My pack of seeds was purchased recently, and what I have seen is that no one who grows the pure is getting that classic baseball bat bud structure that you see in the dutchmans seedbank picture of the pure.

Also no one seems to be getting that good old skunky odor anymore. I would say look into seedsman seeds skunk, seedsman supposedly has the real skunk. Sensi now owns TFD and many believe they have tweeked the strains a bit.


Another option would be to look into MNS The Devil Afghan x Afghan/skunk. Maybe if you found a nice The Devil male you could work the line a bit to create a stable version of what you are looking for.

I would definitely try to keep that mother going for as long as possible. If you cant find a male like you're looking for to make fem seeds I wouldn't be scared to cross it with something else, skunk or not. As long as you have the mom I would try to make as many crosses with her clones as possible rather than waiting to find that specific skunk male. I hope you do find what you're looking for though. 5 years old is nothing for a Cannabis clone. I have many ones almost 25 years, as long as you keep them virus free they are fine with no loss of vigor, etc.
As for finding a good Skunk #1 male, just grow out some seeds and find one, the seeds are available from several sources like TFD or Seedsmen, as well as many other sources that make their own Skunk #1 seeds, good or bad, pure or not.

Wow I would be very honored, Sam himself visited your thread. That is very nice.
I am waiting and paying such close attention to how this comes out. I think you are going to do a very great job of preserving the Line of Stock you have exactly how it is now for many years to come.
I see some pretty big things coming of this.

Since I just bought a pack of The Pure I may be falling prey to confirmation bias, but I think don't think Sam would direct people to TFD if he didn't believe they had the real Skunk #1.

He says "...the seeds are available" and then "...other sources that make their own Skunk #1 seeds", which you could read to mean his seeds are available at TFD and Seedsman, and other vendors have good/bad versions.

But like I said, I'm just hoping the seeds I have are the real deal.

Who can do a side by side to get rid of this ambiguity? I have a TFD circa 2000 SK #1, a yellow TFD pack from about 2 years ago and now a blue pack...If somebody is a med user in Cali and has the space and good ic documentation skills I will give them to you as long as you 1) document with pictures and 2) return me a few seeds from the most stable parents. Holla.
