I'm just getting started into this fascinating hobby myself:woohoo:. Heres a shot of the system I built myself recently. I have a few different strains(brazilian & cambodian) colonizing in jars right now. I might snap some pics of them later. For the setup I have 2- 12" airstones in the 5 gallon bucket for added humidity. I also made it so I can choose(with the ball valves) if I want to bring in fresh air or recirculate the air that is already in the system. In each fruiting chamber I will have 2- 13"x15"x5" tubs that will be filled with horse poo and verm. This is gonna be fun!

Here's a few shots of the jars. 22 total. 12 Brazilian jars(with the metal lids) that are 100% colonized +1 week. I pasteurized my h-poo/20% verm in the oven tonight, gonna let it cool over night and then crumble up the Brailian jars and add it to the h-poo. I'll let it colonize for probably 10 days or so, give it a 24hr cold shock, then let it rip out some mushrooms. Theres 10 Cambodian jars(with the plastic lids). They are just about colonized, but just not there yet as you can see. My guess would be probably 2 days till they are good.

Welcome to the Mushroom forum. Looking extremely cool, LGH. A pretty rad setup for a first timer. The monotubs I'm using couldn't get any easier. Anyway, looking forward to the show! :lurk:

I agree with Abbie, very nice setup.
Is this your first time growing mushies? Cause you're really knocking it out of the ballpark. My first time, I made BRF cakes that turned into this horrid gloppy mess because I didn't leave any FAE...

Hey how did you make your humidifiers?

I have 2-12" airstones in the 5 gallon bucket. I used 1/4" outside diameter hose for them and drilled 2-3/16" holes to stick them through the bucket lid. I used 1" outside diameter hose and drilled 15/16" holes for the exhaust vents going from the bucket to the fruiting chambers. I filled the water bucket about 3/4 full with R.O water and a lil bleach. Is that what you meant by humidifiers? Or were you talking the whole shabang?

I did B+ for my first time cause i heard they were easy to grow and resistant to contam.
I'm excited to see how the cambodian and brazilians look

Lets Get High I would like to congratulate you on your journey to grow mushrooms... While I think your set-up is well planned and executed I would have to say your are wasting valuable space!! Again I'm only trying to help and not trying to discourage you by any means... Ask anybody here I only want to help... Instead of putting cakes ontop of that smaller bin inside the big bins I would reccomend you do things another way... I would use 5 of those jars to spawn to a bulk substrate and fill those bins about 4-6 inches high... I would totally loose the perlite beds and the air-hose things... You will yeild much much more by doing thins differently... You can easily get a whole pound (dried) from those 2 bins!!! So if you just want to get familiar with the growing phas amd gaining experience before trying other better methods then by all means go with what you have already... But if you are looking for more yeild... Then you are going about it very wrong.. You are waseting valuable space and adding alot of unnecessary items and gadgets where Murphey's Law will happen.. For a more detailed (and correct) approach and TEK then PM me and I will be glad to help you...

I'm all ears 79towncar! Any help would be great. I'm all about more yield. For what its worth, I wasnt planning on fruiting the cakes as is. They are actually in the spawn bags as of 2 days ago. Would it be better to ditch the perlite and stick the h-poo straight into the bottom of the FC(with a black trashbag liner of course)? Is that called a monotub? Maybe I will take an updated pic with the tubs I was planning on using to put the h-poo in. But if I can get rid of the perlite, still keep the humidity up, and keep the system automated for the most part I'm up for whatever you suggest.

The black tubs inside the main fruiting chamber are what I was planning on using to put the h-poo into. They are 5" deep and 13"x 15 1/2" wide. Maybe I wont hafta use them anymore and can go straight into the bottom of the FC?

Yea see I would ditch those black tubs and the perlite.. And just put the substrate inside the whole bin.. Yes def use a black plastic bag liner.. You can maintain high humidity without the perlite taking up space.. And when you need to fan just use the lid of the whole bin to fan the whole substrate..
