ok, so I planted 10 bags seeds about a month ago, they were swag seeds from some decent bud and I was just planting them to get the hang of everything before I started my good strains(OG Kush & Blue Hash to start). Anyway I put all of them into flowering about 6 days ago and EVERY SINGLE ONE is showing white pistols, so does that mean they are all female? I was under the impression that if you plant some bag seeds at best half would be female. Did I just get lucky or will they all show pistols at first and then sex? They are overgrowing my cab because I expected to have to take half of them out, what do you all think?

1- They definitely sound female.

2- When you say swag, you mean fully seeded brick weed? If so then IMHO you got lucky. As about half "should" be males. If by swag you mean low grade weed with a few seeds then there's a higher possibility that they were self pollinated, at which point I would suspect there to be a much higher ratio of females if not all.

3- Them showing pistols is them showing sex.

It wasnt fully seeded but close, it was just good smoke(called Pop Corn here) and I had some seeds on the way and I was like what the hell, lets get this stuff straightened out, So I planted them all and damn, Really? All females, No way! I guess so, that leaves me with a worse problem, I guess, which ones to keep The room is already overgrown and they are tall, you think I could keep them all in there under a 250 watt hps or would it be better to take out half of them? if they R all tru females........try leaving the lights off for 24-36 hrs straight......this will stress them just enuff to go full blown one way or the other...........if they R all femal.......selective keep the BEST.....healthyiest....strongest....prettiest......looking ladiez...in the bunch......cull / kill the week...............
or maybe double pot them in bigger containerz........and LST them each in seperate directions....to produce afullur canopy....ie. more bud sitez.........

Here is the picture, I did nothing to them but let them grow, I was just trying to get the heat and stuff in the cab right before I put anything expensive in there, but now I don't want to waste them Think I should just start tying them down or what?

go w/ the light out stress......verify all girlz.......then replant together...in more useable containers......square......maybe storage tote......
lst those girls.......tie them down to the side of the container.......
should be fin..........U gott'a any way.......no head space in there and flowering plantz.....stretch.......budz cant touch lightz..........

see I was thinking grow them all in one big rubbermaid, but I thought I read somewhere on here that if you do that they will fight over nutes and such and maybe even kill each other off. So you think I should just make the bottom all soil and put them all together, at least the ones I decide to keep after the long dark period? Oh and another thing, do they need air circulation in light out? Thanks everyone

Yeah.. it looks good smokincheese. Good job. This will be a great learning experience for you. Smart to work out the kinks first. I do think its gonna get cramped in there fast once they really get into full bloom. I don't think you can go wrong with whatever you decide to do. Most of the seeds you find in commercial weed these days are 'selfed' or pollinated by the stray male flower of another female, since commercial growers never have male plants around. Of the perhaps 8-9 different 'bagseeds' gifted to me in the last two decades, only two batches turned out to have any males at all.

I'm presently in a similar situation to smokincheese only a few weeks earlier with 7 OGK X Blue Dream seeds found in a nug from a local clinic. Only difference is, I'm hoping for some males to breed with.

Sounds like,,,,,

Hermi plants have both male and female parts - and when they make seed - the vast majority of those seeds will be hermi prone;

The start out female - but sometilme during thier life - make male flowers and self polinate.

I'd say yao are either really -REALLY lucky - or you have a few hermi prone plants. And by the way - your garden looks phine!


There is a better than average chance - even with no "male" plants - your harvest may have a few seeds.


Annoying, but not all that big of a problem.

Plus! - ya get mo seeds.

south of the border schwag - yup - hermi prone.

On the bright side - if you can get those to harvest - (Usually a LONG ASSED flower time, 12-16 weeks sometimes) - it's time to invest in seed.


And, - a good grower will get all the best out of the plant.

One of my first succesful grows - back in OG days - I had a plant with a floppy cola - wouldn't stand up straight - posted pix on Overgrow.com,,, - a grower came back and said I had a strain called "Scorpians tail" . Said it was kinda weak but good - he was right all the way. anyway,,,,
