Iolite Portable Vaporizer

- butane chamber is too small, when you go to a festival you have to carry a bottle of butane with you to refill.

I get one to two bowls worth from a full tank....how about you?

- mouthpiece gets very hot

I sip, sip and that works...or just add an extra length of stem so it's cooler, my I-O came with lots of add on sections of stems

- vapor is sometimes very "rough" and hurts my throat

I wouldn't describe it as rough....just very dry, especially after a few inhales

The company that produces a portable vape that works better than the stationary ones now will make a million bucks.......the Iolite has set a new standard, but there's room for improvement. I've also heard the Iolite is selling like crazy

In a few years time many of us will be sipping on computer controlled portable vapes that really blast you up like a big bong hit..I wonder if Sony will produce it?

80% full is a key. More compact and the draw is harder, not as good a vape session. In my opinion, no white vapor = no THC being vaporized.


that's not correct, I still don't see any vapor at all on the exhale no matter how I use it or whether there's 40%. 60% or 80% full and catch a buzz of varying degrees...though, I've only tried one type of bud in it as that's all i have at the mo..maybe it works better on some strains than others or maybe some units heat at a slightly higher temp than others which would explain the "clouds of vapor" and the lack of it with some users?

More metal= heavier. I see no need for plastic. Not sure where the fear of plastic is coming from.

I'd prefer one functioning temp to be there. After 260F (I don't recall) all Cannabinoids are volatilized. Higher temps give the impression of more normal smoking, maybe but don't have more cannabinoids.

what really gets me wondering about the iolite, sometimes i vape and i dont notice nuffin. but the weed has turned brown, so what happens to all the thc?

hmm maybe 3-4 or i dunno, never really counted. but i noticed it goes empty really fast and wouldnt last me one day at a long party/festival so i always had to carry a backup bottle of butane.

For those not getting any vapor on the exhale: how do you inhale? Ideally, you should be taking long (say, 10-15 seconds), continuous draws on the vape for each hit. After the first 2-3 hits after light-up, you should consistently see at least some vapor on the exhale. I always grind my bud up before packing it. I've used the Iolite with approximately 15 different strains and I ALWAYS get a good vapor on the exhale, so it has nothing to do with strain.

It seems to me that your technique might need to be adjusted to get the most out of a vaporizer. Vaping is not the same as smoking and if you use the same technique you won't get the best results, in my experience.

I too own a VaporBrothers, and as much as I love it, I love the Iolite even more. Sorry to hear you're having so many problems with it.

No extra's, it comes with all of the little tools you'll need (plus some extra screens and cleaning devices).

I have found it works a lot better when herb is ground nice. I'd recommend buying from VaporStore.

Also, all of those accessory items are readily available. You can order as needed. There are spare screens and mouthpieces that already come with the unit as KJ said.

I just got it loaded it up with some skunk haze and all I can say is Fuckin WOW!!! I'm retarded. Does anyone find that vapor hits make you cough more than bong hits???

Yes, they can sometimes be hot/harsh if you're not careful. It's mostly a matter of technique and I think the more you use it the more you'll get used to what it takes to have the perfect hit every time. Also, with the Iolite, it comes with a moisture condenser (the little metal ring that rattles inside the stem). I've never used mine as I took it out right away, but supposedly it condenses some of the hot moisture out of the hit so that you get less hot steam in your mouth. If you're not using it, give it a try and see if it helps.

take long draws of ten to 15 seconds. wait till its warmed up a few minutes. it is cranking fully in ten minutes.

i found taking one or two hits per minute gets me bigger hits.

mine lasts almost 2 hours on one fill.

wait 5 minutes after filling to start.

it's not perfect but take your volcanoe to a festival and see how that works for you.

A word of advice for anyone looking to buy an Iolite: my local headshops sells these for £155 (according to Google, that's $258). I was lurking on Ebay for a while looking to get a bargin and the Iolite's were selling for as little as £80 (Google says that's $133).

This may go without saying for most of you, but check out Ebay first! You could save a lot of money.
