100w per sf - too much light?

4ft by 3ft area. Are 2 600's too much light in that space? The actual room is bigger than that but I only want to use a 4x3 area. Thinking of 12 plants, 1 per SF in a SCROG.

I have roughly the same size space and I'm stuck with a 1000w HPS. I would gladly trade you that for one of your 600w lamps right now. Would save me a lot of grief and put me at about 60wpsqft.... much nicer. :D

Edit: I ended up hanging the lamp vertically, without a reflector on it. I have massive air-flow and A/C an everything stays nice and chilly. :D

It can be done but to you have the fan power for ventilation and keeping the grow and the lights cool enough?

I have an area that is 5 square feet and I use a 400w A/C HPS which gives me 80w per square foot and 10,000 lumens per square foot. The sun gives out about 10k-15k lumens per square foot...I'd say anymore then that and you'd reach the point of diminishing returns.Would a 1000w HPS be better suited for your area...I think so or maybe even 2x 400w HPS.

Nope not at all. I run 1000hps in 10 square ft. Just make sure you have good ventilation to keep the heat down
