what do you use to support plants

hey community.... i used bamboo sticks last time to support plants and during last run i neded up with some powder mildew so i was going to get your thoughts on reusing those same sticks ....can i just soak them in bleach and let them dry out or? just buy new ones? AND WAHT DO YOU USE TO SUPPORT YOUR PLANTS?

id just get rid of them bamboo sticks they cause mold try and get hold of sum plastic sticks

Were they non-porous, glass, metal etc, bleach would be fine but, I'd chuck the bamboo once it's been infected.

No actually I use those little height adjust sets for hanging baskets, I picked up a bunch on sale a few years ago. They've got a little spindle in the middle so you can reset the height as the plants grow. I rarely use them however, i normally just train the crap out of the plants to the point where they can support their own weight in bloom.

I just use 2 inch chicken wire, like a scrog net, but I don't scrog. Never grown outside, but I'd imagine it'd work out there too.

hummm so are you saying the bamboo sticks caused the mold?

I use a fake bamboo stick. Its metal tubing surrounded by a green plastic cover made to look like bamboo. The tubing is like 1/4" (aluminum i think) and they come in different lengths. I got mine at OSH i think. I would follow Freezerboy's advice and dump the infected bamboo. Peace

I use a tree at my OD spot.. It has plenty of branches to use.. Plus the plant feels like its with its with family.. peace..

I would also look into your watering practices.

I have used bamboo for years and have never had them cause mold or mildew. I think your medium is staying too wet too long

Whats the best way to stake a plant when its growing in a net cup full of grow rocks? wouldnt it upset the roots to put a stake in there?
