need to change out the water in my res

i got a 55 gallon ebb n gro multiflo system and i want to drain the 55 gallon res and do a fresh batch of nutes, there are 2 pumps with my system one fill pump and a drain pump can i use either of those to actully pump out the water with a garden hose into my bathtub or something?

I don't see why not. I put a tee with 2 shut offs inline and shut down the one going to the controller bucket and open up the one that leads to my toilet. when I'n done I do the reverse.

I have the same system and what I did was take an appropriate length of 1/2" hose, the same hose as you use for the system, and put a straigt 1/2" fitting on it and I connect it to the 10" long hose that hangs down inside the controller bucket that comes from the fill pump in the resovior. Then I just take the plug for the pump in the resovior and plug it into the power strip (in my case) and let it pump away. It works really well that way and when it gets close to the bottom I lean the resovior over a little so that I can get it down to the last gallon or so.
Then it is just a matter of disconnecting the hose used to drain with and plug the fill pump cord back into the controller bucket.
Watch to not pull on the 10" peice of fill hose inside the controller bucket or it wiill come loose and you have to reconnect it. I just kind of leave a little slack in the controller bucket and let the lid sit on the hose and it works great.

Great way to do it. I drain to tub then fill tub to fill 55 gal res. DO NOT FLOOD OR LET HOSE END FALL OUT !!!!!!!! I learned by error. I have the same set up but have it posted at another site. http://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/190707-herijuana-basic-beer-first-grow-4.html

i do it by using my bigggest pump.. attach a hose to it and drain away to wherever..
