moonshine mix question

I'm totally gonna try the moonshine mix and even bought most of the supplies today. This wont be my 1st grow by far (6Th to be exact, mostly hydro) so i do know what im doing but it will be my first moonshine so i thought id ask for help. Ive read over and over how the moonshine method is done (sure wish i could find the original high times article though, anyone know where to find it?) and i love the just add water aspect of it most as i can only check on the plants every few days and im tired of messing with everything hydro. One of the problems i see for me though is i can't transplant to ever growing pot sizes and that's suppose to be key with this method of growing. My grow room only allows for four 1.4 gallon pots,.. kinda small grow this time around. I'm thinking maybe pull the plants when its time for a transplant and remove as much dirt as i can taking care not to damage the roots and refill with new moonshine mix,.. but will that be enough new food for my plants?
I'll be growing 2 Lowlife BlueBerry (real short ladies), 1 Black Domina, and 1 Kali Mist.
What do you moonshiners out there think i should do? :yeahthats

hey there. Hows the height in your room? If its tall enough try double potting. Im guessin your gonna try flowering them pretty short? What I would do in limited space is start in 20oz. cups, followed by 4 to 6 in. containers, then maybe a week in a 1.4. When its time to flower cut the bottom out of the containers your plants are in then set them on top of other containers. This method works very well.

Remember reading about moonshine mix in HT but i dont think it was an actual article more like one of those little tip paragraphs they throw in. Cant remember for sure.

You don't remember what month/yr it was do you? Id like to look at the original post if i could. Unfortunately i cant double pot, good creative idea though thanks. I guess ill just have to see what they'll do in 1.4 gallon pots,.. wish i knew how often i should change there soil, like how fast the aforementioned strains will go through 1.4 gallons of moonshine mix,.. or how to tell the soil is tapped out and time for a change,.. anyone know?

The article was in september 2005. I believe the article originally came from overgrow.
Way back when I used to use 1.5 gal. to flower with a mix similar to moonshines, but had to keep the plants short. If you start havin nutrient issues, stunted plants, have to water frequently, there most likely rootbound. Hard to say how long itll take for the roots to blast through, but im guessin 2-3 weeks. good luck, maybe check out the micro grow forum.
