QX-1 (Whiskeytango420 auction beans)

T

THE PABLOS

I don't know Whiskeytango420...never grown out any beans that he made...this will be a straight up grow...objectively running these genetics to find females only(should be easy enough). These beans were an accidental pollination(light leak as it were)...I believe he said the mom was a Querkle(Space Queen dominant...what attracted me) and the dads/moms a Bubblegum and/or a Querkle(indica dominant). That's what's in my notes...if I'm off somebody correct me please. I'm just looking to have fun...not dwelling on breeding QX-1...but if I find something interesting I'll most likely knock her up down the road. One thing at a time.

I dropped 14 and kept only 8...not a reflection on the beans as the germ rate was 11/14...and three of those were fatal helmet heads...cull,toss,bye bye...
Score card 8 then...healthy seedlings growing in coco filled yogurt cups...fed 200 ppm...RO H2O...modified Rez/Heads recipe...GH bloom/micro....

I'll keep this updated...feel free to chime in...I know nothing about these beans other than what I typed above....a freestyle grow with no goals other than finding jars of stinky weed....I should say I do know what Querkle is but have grown neither parent....I'm not completely in the dark.

Thanks for the thread! Ill chim ein if your off on anything. And there where 3 plants that threw nanners from the light leak. Including QX1. So, there is a pretty good chance you will get an S1 or three of that plant pictured:woohoo:I will come back through and post pics of the original mom, as well as the 15 or so QX1s I have at 3 weeks flower....
Happy growing!

Thanks Whiskey...that would be top notch...I'll make note of the possibles. Sure if she selfed there will be close representatives of her...think you told me that you were finding them...but I smoke a lot so...but seem to remember that from somewhere. I'm burried in a bunch of stuff here and just want to grow a strain for females. I prefer rocking sativas. I have no doubts about these...not too concerned about stability either...the genetics are there...odds are they recombo nicely.

Coolness Whiskey

Coolness Whiskey

Still holding at eight...transplanted from yogurt to beer cups...I'll probably get them into the veg stage outside but haven't moved them from under the T5s. I cheat like a bastard in the summer time....I'll harden them off slowly in this heat...shade made by squash...then move them back in when they become obvious. Only one is showing poor root structure and is needing a piece of bamboo for support...green but a little burnt looking...not feeding but enough to keep my coco balanced...around 200ppm if that...even my RO H2O is at 179 depending on what well we're on.

Other than that one seedling being rooted poorly(the burn is root related...the others have no burn and all get the same meals out of the same turkey baster) all is good...I'll snap a pic later and post it up. Cool Runnings y'all......

Update

Update

Ok big boppers...an update on the progress of my QX1 seedlings...culled two for slow growth or for whatever reason....so holding at six...I doubt that I'll cull anymore. Still in beer cups...feeding around 1/2 strength...I'll transplant into 4" squares and place them under 400 MHs when space opens up on the floor.

dunno if you stopped in hoosiers thread, or my Area 51 thread, but you may be in luck! I got all 3 phenos with the 15 I popped. All were fem, and I got MOSTLY the mom phenos, but there are 3 BG phenos, and 2 WAAAAY indi leaning Querkle...PERFECT batch if I say so myself! There is some uniformity, but you get a keeper regardless! Just deciding which one to keep is the bitch...lol. I screwed up, and will HAVE to re-veg one of em i didnt get cuts of....lol

Peat...yeh I was just checking yers out...looking nice...happy others are on board so we can see more of what can be had in these beans. I'm running this one open minded..not really looking for anything too specific...wouldn't mind a nice SQ dominant and a hard Urkle leaner for variation....I'm seeing variation in the seedlings now....thanks for dropping in dude...I'll be following along with yer thread.

Whiskey...all is good...I did check out some of those other threads...good to see yer getting support dude. These seedlings I have are ready for transplant and full veg but I'm waiting on some longer flowering subjects to finish up so I can rotate and find floor space under the MH veg lites. I run perpetual...timing and space always at a premium. Somehow I keep it revolving but sativas always throw me off and that's what's going down now. I'll keep ya in the loop but just stalling for space...hanging back so to speak.Peace...cool runnings...pablos

Transplant out of Beer cups

Transplant out of Beer cups

Some space opened on the floor....so rotation time....transplant from cups into 4" squares...placed under 400MHs....they will not be transplanted again until they go into their 3gal flower squares.

We'll let them stretch/grow for another 10-14 daze(depending on speed of growth) before we take cuts...cuts will come from the main stalk also as a topping measure.

Growth seems lush...good vigor....good stink...I thought I had six but I mistook another one of my plants...so five is the count...they come they go...sorry about that.

T

THE PABLOS

All five were sexed today...yep all females....I topped them all but not for cuts...I need to stall them for rotation reasons....I'll then take my cuts from some lower places rather than taking the main post as I mostly like to do.

Growth wise...very healthy feeders, thick hollow stalks....I'll refract away from saying that they are showing variation...they appear uniform...all about 12-16" tall....smell is sweet veggy smell...little funky...not super stanky though. I consider them thick girls...robust...full...and very easy to grow.

Where are we in the grow?....stalling like I said...but within striking distance of the flower room...probably try for cuts end of next week...if my cloning skills are on then I would say we are about 2wks away from flowering. That is subject to change but is a fair guesstimate. :joint:

Thanks fellas...still stalling...but I'll be getting my cuts this week and some openings in the rotation are not far off...I'll try to get them all in at the same time. Plenty of vigor and attractive plants....they have presented absolutely no problems cultivation wise...confident I'll find a shiner or two amongst the population...pretty pleased with them and they seemed pleased with themselves...thanks for dropping in.:joint:

In They Go

In They Go

My cuts look good and healthy...feelin' that they are rooting...so that gives me the green light to flower the donor mommas. I'll post some pics when they turn on but for now...all 5 girls(Scratch,Pudence,Sumthang,Sadie, and Prudence) have been moved into the flower room. They still reside in 4" squares of coco...but will be transplanted into 3gal squares of coco when floor space opens up...within the next week or so.

I flower using 600hps on movers...and I'm a skimmer.
I define skimmer as: an indoor grower who uses light movers and skims the light as close to the canopy as the plants can take...sometimes as close as a twat hair but usually 4-8" from the flowers.
Some varieties handle the heat transfer better than others...I do not have the hoods air cooled as inch worming ducting on moving lights is quite the chore and high maintenance...the more that moves...the more that can go wrong....but I've been using my system for a while and I'm pretty well versed on how to move air...hot and cold...and I keep daily tabs on my girls.

The key to being a Skimmer is getting an even canopy...and that is an art form when growing perpetual and multi strained...but certainly not impossible.

When I acquired QX1 it was my fuzzy plan to outcross some selections(the selfed Space Queen pheno in particular) with pollen from Rez's Killer Chem(I used 3 males and blended the pollen) as there is connection with C99 in the genetic make up of both hybrids....and whatever else the Killer Queen, Chem, Purple Urkle, and SQ decides to express should be worth a look or two. Not rocket science...more like makin' marinade to suit yer taste. So I might have posted in the beginning of the thread that I was just looking to run some girls...but I didn't want to mention this project until I saw how the girls looked and grew...just being reserved and selective....but as I'm satisfied that I'll be able to find subjects that shine...we'll go ahead and perform this outcross...one branch per selection...somewhere around 25-30daze in flower.

Other than that...everything looks good and on schedule....I'll get some pics probably when I transplant into the flower squares...we'll look at some roots...compare stretch...get a sense of the vigor etc....peace...cool runnings...happy hunting...pablos
