USA Today was one of the papers that ran it.
I'm all for advertising and promotion, but phony news articles say a lot of the people that buy them.
Trying to smear the other companies because they don't talk about marijuana is pretty lame.
They are attacking the wrong people.
The big boys don't talk about weed because they are American companies and LEO tends to raid stores that talk about it.
Even Advanced had to shut down the part of their web site that talked about marijuana, and they aren't even based in the U.S.
I guess it is a sign that things have been going downhill for them.
Still, it would have been cool to get some free samples from them.

Funny. I went to this show, and have to say - things are moving along briskly, both for better and for worse. There's more money than ever in the grow biz (and SF is ground zero for the U.S. side of things). Observations -

• The line to get in was insanely long;
  
  
• the thug element is much more pronounced, sadly;
  
  
• many vendors are WAY less secretive 'bout what they know their shit's getting used to grow (up to and beyond Advanced Nutrients' candor);
  
  
• there's more crap nobody needs than ever, and even worse, a lot of sketchy, potentially dangerous crap;
  
  
• there are more salesmen in the game than ever, which is bad news IMHO. I had one nutrient vendor (from a company named for a famous Nor Cal county) straight up lie to me about who was using his products, and another vendor selling light gear gave me the hardest hard sell I've had since I went car shopping.

A couple years ago I could show up to this show in the closing hour and score stuff for way cheap - replacement bulbs, timers, nutes - but now the only deals that were to be had seemed to start in the triple digits and go up from there. My buddy picked up a tent for 1/6th the retail price and an RO unit for insanely cheap.

Also, more progress needs to be made in the lighting department... 2 LED vendors and one super-overpriced CFL vendor and dozens upon dozens of HID booths, most of which reselling inferior Chinese bulbs that are just waiting to explode all over someone's plants... the irony about the lack of grow-CFL's for sale was that Ed Rosenthal was walking around at one point and I felt like asking him what he thought about that. Heh.

Overall, the organizers are just following the money. Sadly, the money seems to favor gang rackets doing factory grows with chem nutes in ghetto hydro rigs - not good for quality or P.R. for the cause. Oh, and a special recognition to the Bloom people for exemplifying this fucking idiocy by having a ridiculously loud PA bumping awful house music so loud that it made conversations difficult on the other side of the building... and that yellow Lamborghini parked inside the display? Really? Is that what it's all about? How fucking sad.

I'd be happy to go to a show half this size that was more oriented towards smalltime home gardeners than dudes with their area codes tattooed on their neck talking about "slangin' el-bees, n*gga" and all that bullshit. But that's just me.

What nutrient line do people here use, and did they have a good booth at the show? I use House and Garden and I feel they always have a good booth with educated people working the booth. I forget what booth had the hydro babes in it, but I liked it.

I didn't see much new there that I hadn't already seen online, maybe the new watercooled light in an actual hood was new, everything else, meh. I got a sack full of Dutch Master stuff, but other than that very few samples. I loved walking up to booths of nutes that weren't passing out samples, and asking, "so, is this stuff any good?" "Yeah? I guess you just want me to take your word for it huh, since you aren't givin any out." And walk away.

And to the people and or persons who broke into our white car in the paid parking lot and stole most of our belonging and a bunch of hydro stuff - thanks ,great you really make me love the city more and more everytime I come to visit .I hope you get busted growing weed with that shit as karma will come full circle as that stuff was need to help a cancer patient so pat your self on the back for that one , btw you were a real pro to attend an event like this on federall property so when the police arrived for the insurance company they informed us its on federall property and they have lots of prints lmao good job thanks i guess is what i say .
WHEN they bust in your door for for the prints and such i hope they do find illegal shit and give you a date with bubba you prick's stole from a dieing patient.
TO the guy at the PURE BLOOM booth who cussed me and others out for WINNING RAFFLE PRIZES from you booth , good job buddy i waited in line 20 min to hand you my winners certificat and had a drunk guy spill half his ice cold beer down my back just to get you shitty attitude and foul mouth remarks like "you diddnt win shit" and my favorite "you diddnt pay for the tickets and your not getting shit out of me" real pro this guy diddnt even know how the raffle works , yes buddy , I paid 20 for raffle tickets witch was not a donation i gave 5 bucks to that , for a total of $25 ,and yea my tickect was a winnet i still got the certificate worth only a foul mouth mowhawk wearing jerks foul mouth opinion.
so for you i sent a few letters out , to your company and maximum yeild . about how unprofesional and foul mouthed you were toward numoruos others who won prises from your booth. We all agreed to write letters on your behalf so i hope you enjoyed your self at the show as you killed the funnest part "the raffle" for me. good goin thanks for nothin.

I keep saying it over and over: capitalism and cannabis go together as well as capitalism and music... which is to say, NOT at all. Sigh...

Nutes: I'm a big fan of the Canna line lately, and they didn't have a booth; the House & Garden stuff is very highly rated too and their folks generally know what they're talking about (although if you tried to explain something like Lucas formula to them they'd probably say it was impossible). If Canna were unavailable here I'd consider switching. I've had good experiences with Pure Blend Pro by Botanicare but their booth kind of turned me off too - no samples that I saw, all fake slickness LA-style trade show bullshit.

re: hydro babes - sheeeit, that's one thing - there sure were a lot of GrowHoes shilling their company's respective wares. Every time I passed this one poor gal working for growshop-dot-com, there was a different dude sitting there trying to chat her up. I had to laugh.

This one makes me saddest of all. Again, that bullshit fuckin' thug stuff fucking the rest of us over because they don't care about anybody and have no respect for themselves, let alone someone else.

First off: I'd say let's boycott those PURE BLOOM fucktards, because their booth was the textbook example of this kind of idiocy. They ran their little sideshow like a bunch of amateurs, full of attitude and utter unprofessionalism.

And as for theft - someone tried to walk off with one booth's display RO unit and when the booth's employees caught up with this rocket scientist, he said "I bought it for $10" (it was a $700 unit!) but didn't protest when they yanked it out of his hands at least. Jesus H. Christ!

If any of the asshole contingent that was in the house IS reading this, then please go settle up your affairs and then kindly off yourself. Nobody wants you in Weedland.

my buddy did find a few heads that were workers inside that looked in need of tweed and he made a few cats day alot better,. just to see them smile ,and you can believe they did ,ear to ear. a few cats from over seas and back east looked like they seen god when handed cali grapes and og kush . I think he went just to meet foreign people and give them a taste of cali lol .

that is one of my favorite things to do,...i've bee all around the country and had many foreigners out here who i've gotten to grace their lungs with fine cali herb. It is always a very fun and entertaining experience
