Growing in Suburbia

Update:

Been gone for 5 days, I had a friend come to check on them once. This being only my 2nd grow, I carried some apprehension along on my vacation as I have checked and worked on my plants everyday, so being separated from them was different. 1st vacation in 16 mos. and I couldn't let go and completely relax, I'm 'funemployed' for the 1st time in 37 years and in the 2 days before leaving things started to heat up in the job search. That gave me some good feeling to go fishing, unfortunately when I was contacting my friend regarding his stopping by to check on my grow, I listened to my messages. I had 2 messages from employment possibilities 'urgent'.....'won't last long'...I returned the calls, one of them being a very interesting opportunity. Couldn't stop thinking after that, of course smoking Super Silver Haze from the 1st harvest didn't do much to help quiet the mind. Also took some UK Cheese...also rather thought provoking, and some White Russian for evenings.

Back to reality, when I got home it was midafternoon and lights off. When the lights came on I was pleased with the growth, but somewhat concerned with some nute burn. I'm going to post up some ?'s to DrunkenMessiah as I decide to either ride along and let the plants adjust, or intervene with some flushing.

Here's current pics

Nute Burn

The Organic Bubble Baths are low on water, about half way, so I'll be topping up later today.

Ambient temps over 100f is a bitch. The A/C is havivg to run alot, but the temps are staying at 80-83 lights on, and 76-77 lights off. Rh has been between 42 and 59%. Another coupla veg days and I'll be flipping them to flower:woohoo:

Outdoor plants are looking healthy, I found another male  but they're all sexed now. Swiss Bliss 3 fems out of 6...Jack Herer 5 fems out of 6.

Rip,
I love your setup. I am running almost the same thing. 1k vertical in about the same sized room. I am in soil now but mixed up a batch of medium for the OBBT's for the next go. Today I will make up the buckets. I have 8 Purple wreck clones rooting now that will go into the OBBT's. I am going to subscribe to DM's thread along with the one by Lady Largely. This technique looks to be exactly what I want, (idiotproof) if done right at first, and low maintenance.:joint:
Looking forward to watching your progress.:woohoo:

RVW, your setup is sweet, and it looks like you're getting the fine tuning down. Sorry to hear about the disappointing Dabneys, but I hope they'll turn out much better this go 'round. Sounds like all of your other ladies are working out just right.

Good luck in your job search - I hope to hear you found a great job that doesn't even feel like work. Be good out there!

McD,

Let's keep in touch so we can compare notes. Good luck!

Thanks CellarDweller.

Jakesking, thanks for the good words. I've been getting some interesting possiblities, more than one option. Interview tomorrow am.!

Update:
Temps have eased so the A/C can ease up a little. I fabbed up individual Scrog screens and secured them to wire stakes. Pruned the backside and lower areas, then pulled the bud sites through the screen. I just realized
the pics below are actually 2 days old so I'll post freshies tonight.

WR left, DB right

It seems I have run out of space for pictures, is there a moderator that moniters this site and can give me more? Or do I need to delete previous?

How do I contact for pic info?

Anyway, Last post I said I was going to top up the buckets, instead I added some but left 1/2 full so there's room for tea...brewing now ewc, Kelp meal, Kelp extract, alfala, pinch 'o Myco Madness, and a dollop of molasses.

Peace out

Sorry for the lack of updates, I had a chance at some employment and had to commit maximum effort. Unfortunately, the opportunity didn't pan out, so back to gardening.

I was fortunate that the grow method was so low maintenence. I've been keeping the reseviours full by filling with a rotating regimen of Earth Juice, Floranova Bloom, and home brewed fully activated Tea's. 'course some bubbled city water sometimes.

These plants have been in bloom for 30 days, so I expect about 35 or 40 more. The flower box's cooling system has been doing very well through the dog days. 73 lights off, 78 lights on. Rh 42%-65%.

My flower box barely contains the 1k HPS. Some of the buds that are the closest suffer a little, but I have no room to back them up. I do try to keep the vertical trellis bent back to maximumize space.

Hold on........

The mountians behind my house have been burning for days, sometimes the ashfall comes our way. these are some pics of an outdoor Swiss Bliss that show some of that.

Update 36 days flower

Since the last post I've topped up with Floranova Bloom once, and then a top up with Earth Juice.

Stretch and fast bud developement have eased, waiting for the swelling to start.

While all's well with the Indoor, the same can't be said for the Outs.

I've been learning alot while running my 1st Outdoor Garden. Some of my small plants that I started with (both seedlings and cuttings) reacted by starting to flower. Most revegged or completely stopped all growth. I culled slow growers to keep plant count down as most of the seed starters turned out to be girls.

Swiss Bliss went into flower and never looked back, these three plants matured over the last few days. Sunday, whilst checking Trich's, I found this bud that appeared to have been blown up or out.

This was merely a precursor to Monday's nightmare, only one plant was not affected by Caterpillars...Fucking Cabbage Loopers eat the heart out of buds and leave a pile of Catershit behind. A small consolation, the clean plant was also the best. I'll spend some time today reinspecting the harvested buds for any stray CaterFuckers.

This morning I was at the Depot when they opened, picked up some Spinosad and sprayed the remaining Outers. I relized that I had sprayed the clean plant with Neem a coupla time for possible mites. The two infested plants had never showed any problems so I had avoided any "unneeded" spraying!!

Lesson learned, I had been advised by experienced growers to spray Neem once a week as a prophylactic. Expensive reminder to listen to those that have gone before! I'm investigating whether or not the Shitpile will work for CannaButter or BubbleHash.

I just ran out and took these

Thankfully all was not lost and I have these sweet Swiss Bliss buds

I got this bastard to hold still but I couldn't get him to smile

See ya, gonna go get High, Respect

I found some signs of my nemisis...Caterpillars, so I took my plants outside the other morn. and sprayed them with a light mixture of neem and Spinosad. Last night I found 2 small Pillars, both DEAD!!

I made some CannaButter with the outdoor Swiss Bliss that had been ravaged by Cabbage Loopers. 2 1/2 ozs. of trim and bud in 2 pounds of Butter.

After hardening and then removing the water I remelted the butter so it could be repackaged for easier measuring/dosing.

We made a batch of brownies, so we are experimenting with how much to eat. I'm a Sativa hound myself so the megamellow glow induced by these edibles are not really my cup o' tea, but I'll keep playing with it.

I am extremely happy with this OBBT grow method. Complete no brainer, I haven't checked the ph or ppm once this whole grow. I've got to where I completely trust the microherd that is managing the nutes and how the plants take them up.

Last top up I used AACTea...bubbled up fresh EWC, Timothy Hay, Molasses, and Kelp Extract. I also added some of the runoff from the worm bin, as I was about to add it in I noticed this.

Some kinda bugs bloomin' atop the surface...I threw it in the bubble bucket anyhoo.

The outdoor garden is starting to really look like something. I have 5 Jack Herer's and some small, sad White Russians that didn't reveg from clone very well.

Here's the Jack's
