industry day is the day to go; not as much shoulder to shoulder tussling for the goods.
you should definitely get there about an hour early, regardless of which day, in order to find a parking spot within a mile radius.
what i find amusing is that Advanced throws a big party, but where was their booth???
from talking to the reps at Max Yield it seems there is debate as to whether adding an LA show or simply expanding future shows is the best way.
fwiw industry day requires either pre-registration or showing up with a business card from your hydro retail operation.... with your name on it, not your boss' name, or a paystub or something. i snuck in because i know a few of the exhibitors and always have their personal business cards on hand.

The place was packed with freebie-whores, but not a lot of freebies.

Other than that, there wasn't a thing at the show that you couldn't find out in ten minutes on the internet. In fact, most of the company reps seemed bored and not all that interested in talking about their products.

I knew traffic and parking was going to be bad, so I was somewhat prepared for that, although I didn't know about the S.F. Marathon which has the Embarcadero closed most of the day. That made a bad traffic day (Sunday in S.F.) even worse.

So really there wasn't anything at the show worth going to, but I decided to get away from the 100+ temps in CoCo County, so being out at beautiful Fort Mason where it was 63 degrees and sunny was worth the trip for me.

A few things I did learn:

- The General Organics line is due to start hitting the hydro stores in the next 6-8 weeks.

- The General Organics line has nothing to do with the BioBizz line. The rep said it was a completely different line of development.

- My Galaxy 150w ballast can, indeed, run a 175w MH bulb, as I had read on the internet. The Sunlight Supply rep, after he stopped doing everything he could to ignore me and everyone else, finally told me that they are selling the Galaxy 150w ballasts to the aquarium crowd as a 175w MH ballast. He said the ballast knows which bulb you're putting in there and adjusts its output to the bulb.

Other than that, a colossal waste of time except for the many very good-looking women walking around...

Well I got there a little late. The place was PACKAGED! It was cool though. All in all I thought it was worth it. I managed to grab a good amount of samples. I knew all about most exhibitors wares already, But being that I was in Frisco anyway.....
