330,000 Marijuana Plants, Worth $1 Billion Seized in California

Operation Save Our Sierra, one that involves local, state and federal agencies working together to remove marijuana growing operations, investigate and arrest drug traffickers, and remove infrastructure on public lands in Fresno County, has seized more than $1 billion worth of marijuana.

82 Mexican nationals have been arrested and 330,000 plants have been removed so far, with more to follow. The operation has been focusing on sparsely populated areas east of Fresno where there is little law enforcement.

Well it's interesting to note that the story says something like 40+ fields are left to be dealt with. Perhaps they're just gonna let those finish off before they "destroy" them...

4,000 a plant? I don't think so. I doubt every single plant would have yeilded a pound and being such a commercial grow it wouldn't be worth 4k a pound anyways. Still a huge grow though for sure!

UPDATE: Evidently the most important part of this story was not included in my reference.

The US Drug Czar who was there on site for this bust was quoted as saying "Obama is against the legalization of marijuana." more or less...
