moving a plant indoors-outdoors frequently

If you have a single plant in a pot outside, is it a good idea to bring it in to spend a day or two under an HPS during 1-3 day periods of cloudy weather? Would the additional light make a significant difference in quality of growth? I am wondering if the plant would have to adjust to different light sources and become stressed by having to do that often.

could you start out a tropical sativa seedling in a pot outside in appalachia in the middle of july? Would it be a smaller plant at flowering season than if you had planted in May, or would it "catch up."

how much direct sunlight is necessary? Could a plant do well 3 feet away from a 5-6 foot tall fence? Would it need to be out in the open to grow bushy?

I'd think cloudy sun trumps HPS. Screwing with the lights once or twice is OK but, you're starting a pattern that could call for screwing the light schedule every day and that's where you get into trouble. Plants don't know much but, they know what the sun is and isn't supposed to do.

You can start later and it will catchup to an extent but, a tropical Sativa won't be ready until January or so. How are you're outdoor winter temps? You don't want to try hauling it in and out everyday for months. Especially when sativas are more naturally prone to Hermies.

You can grow next to a fence if the sun's on your side of it but, grown in perpetual shade is not going to bring the good bud.

a sativa won't flower in the fall when the days get shorter?

I guess I will have to flower inside on 12 12. no way a tropical plant could survive a winter in appalachia.

will it react OK to the new light source when I suddenly begin flowering, after being outside for a month?

Is it OK to veg in partial shade?

Tropical Sativa is a vague term. Personally, it makes me think 20 weeks of 12/12. Maybe more. Whenever your plants are normally harvested, add 2 months to that.

They don't need full sun all day but, the more the better. I'd guess 4-6 hours of direct would work.
