Air pumps raising my ph

Hi there, I'm testing a mini DWC with a young plant just to get the hang of growing in hydro, however the air pump seems to raise my PH like crazy, is this normal? I'm using diluted phoshporic acid for lowering Ph which is supposed to be pretty stable, but after about 30-40 minutes of putting the airstones in, my Ph goes up back to like 6.5. How do I manage this Ph raise caused by the air pumps? Peace

Aeration forces CO2 out of the water. The CO2 is in the form of Carbonic Acid the loss of which raises pH. Still, that's quite a climb. Another possibility is your nutes are too weak. If you're drinking nutes faster than water, EC drops while pH climbs. Another possibility is RO water...

What water are you using, how much, and what nutrient strength?

I was using hard tap water which comes in at around 7.4 in PH. I mixed a new batch of solution now using bottled drinking water and started it at a Ph of about 4.9, over a couple of hours it seems to have stabilized at 5.5. The PPM is 700 with the nutes mixed in. The plant just got transplanted from soil so it shoudln't be feeding much yet.

Maybe something left over from the soil? At least you're in the right range now.
