Is a clone farm a viable concept?

I hear a lot about people, especially med growers buying clones to start their grow, but very little about where they come from. How viable would it be to just root and sell clones? Is there a big demand for them?

yes very much but you would need elite clone only strains...and a very good connection to get them

These kids around here made the mistake of telling me their friend grew ( not really a mistake to tell me specifically but the kid shouldnt have even told the kids, how many ppl did they tell besides me ). Anyways they were going to sell me a clone of their own genetics ( some made up funny name but it was fire and every year on schedule they have the same nugs ), they didnt come thru with it, I was even offering like 3 other elite strain cuttings plus the $100 and he never came thru, guess he realized his friends should not be talking about that one of their buddies grows.

The clones most people buy are from the medical clubs, aside from that you just gotta know the right people, unless you have a legal club selling the clones is like equivalent to inviting that person into your grow room. Im sure if you were medical and so was the other person theyd still try slap a fine on you / shut you down unless you were actually a caregiver. You are envisioning this as a for profit business? My advice move to cali start a club or the dam and start a coffeshop.

yeah, I live in Cali, although in one of the less mmj-friendly areas. My idea was to wholesale clones to clubs and hopefully med growers as a care provider.

I don't have elite genetics at this time, but hopefully I could get some. Is it cool with elite breeders to turn the clone you get from them into a mom and sell clones of it, or do they have some kind of right to the distribution of it?

To start out I was thinking of just getting the best commercially available seed strains and selecting bitchin moms for cloning. If I could get $5/clone I think it could be profitable, and even with a 100% mark-up at retail level, the cost would still be on par with most seed packs available, since only half can be expected to be female. Plus, you wouldn't have to worry about finding the best one, etc.

Of course, this idea is still in kind of a legal gray area of 215, since for it to be worth my while, I would need to produce far more clones than I as an individual am permitted under the law, although as a provider it seems it could be permissible the same way the clubs are permitted to operate. Needless to say, I would try my best to ensure I am never scrutinized in the first place.

It seems like it would be a fun angle to work, and as someone who reaps medical benefits from cannabis, I would be proud to assist others in doing the same.

There are dispensaries that only sell clones and there has been a clone delivery for years now too, APE etc. So yes, it is a viable thing, and when they are ready to sell in a week or 2 instead of months, they can be more profitable than flowers, given that you can find clients..

to sell clones successfully the clones must be:
1. Pest free
2. Disease free
3. Well rooted
4. no nutritional deficiencies
5. And yes elite or unique strains are helpful. The regular stuff is everywhere.

Good luck!

the danger is that to be selling clones chances are that your plant count numbers will be quite high. In order to profit, and considering you may not always have 100% success, chances are you will have well over 100 plants at a time.

Yep clone business in Socal is a big ticket nowadays. Believe it or not, you can make more money than selling actual buds to the clinics, on clones. Also, the people who are selling clones in SoCal, for the most part, are shitty people who sell shitty clones.

hmmmm....

my biggest concern is I live below the San Clemente Border patrol checkpoint, so that could get a little nerve racking, and SD is still real shady when it comes to mmj.
