Also i have about 20g of frozen leaf trim. how much water should i put to boil and how much butter should i also add to make it good. i want it to be potent but not like outrageous.... any help would be great.... thanks... also should i put all of the material in the ice water or should i leave the 20grams of bud dry or maybe freeze? thanks again....

If you want to make butter to cook with? you want your bud/trim dry so you can grind it to a powder that you will then 'cook' in the butter, I am unsure of amounts of each you need but someone will let you know before long but in the meantime thaw then dry that trim and keep the bud dry till the trim is ready.

No you must start with dry material or it will not be psychoactive, buon appatito.

but the recipe i have says to boil water then add butter then add trim when butter is melted then to strain. if i do that wont it not matter if it is wet because it is gettting added to the water and butter in the pot anyways?

No a bud must dry to become psychoactive that's why if you ate a raw bud you would feel little or no effect, If you were to smoke the bud and it was a little wet it would be ok, the act of burning the bud transforms the chemicals from non psychoactive to psychoactive, its called decarboxilization or something very similar it has been a long time since i was at school ).
Edit, Do you have a link for your recipe?

I've made butter without drying the leaf. It turned out just fine. As far as the water goes, I recomend using 3 times water to butter. The water is used to seperate the chlorophyl, you cant add too much. It helps remove some of the "green" taste. Also, I recomend soaking in tempid water the night before making the butter, to remove more chlorophyl. It helps alot. Bring your water to a boil, add the butter and melt, then bring the temp down to about 180 degrees, dont boil your weed! It should be just about to boil. Add your leaf and simmer for 2 hours. Boiling it will infuse the butter to the leaf and you'll end up with alot less butter than you started with. Strain the leaf out, run hot water through the leftover leaf to get any butter residue out, and set in the refrigerator to solidify.

Also, If your making butter for baked goods... Almond extract is a great ingrediant to add to breads and cookies to help with the taste. I've got some friends who dont care for eddibles because of the "green" flavor, but almond extract masks it wonderfully!

You can use wet green matter with no problem... but it's best to be dry to chop it very well.

Right now I'm on a trip after I ate 15 gr of budder with an icecream..

hmmnnn... perhaps this is what happened to me. I got no where near the same amount of butter back as what went in. I cooked for ~4hours and it did come to a boil briefly, although I was watching it reasonably closely so did pretty well keeping it under a boil. Perhaps I need to invest in a cooking thermometer to get it more accurate.

I would recomend getting a thermometer. And in my experience, simmering for 2 hours was all that was needed to get some realy potent butter.

thanks for the advice. I'm using only vaporizor leftovers (~3oz this run) and the resulting butter was very potent, I just ended up losing quite a bit over what I started with.

the budder start to look as it's taking thc after a hour and a half, but to be sure I keep it simmering for 4 hours on low flame. some people recommend 6 or even 12 hours, for me 4 works just perfect.

i have like 20g of dry little stems and little shake and then about 30g of dry big whole plant stems like the whole plant basically.... also like about 10g to 14g of haze bud..... will the butter come out potent or will it be a waste of time with the plant stems? also i should cover it? i did it uncovered last....

I would leave it uncovred so that you can keep a thermomiter in it to watch the temp. Just make sure to add plenty of water to allow it to evaporate, and act as a wash.
