What's new

harvesting at different times in a shared rez (roots intertwined)

hey yall i have a dilemma... right now i am growing 3 different strains (GHS mixed sativa pack)... the ladies are 9 weeks into flowering and they are sharing the same reservoir, the three strains have different finishing times:

Super Silver Have 10-11 weeks
Arjans Strawberry Haze 10 Weeks
Neville's Haze 12-14 weeks

my plan was to take the strawberry haze out of the rez and put it in its own clean water supply to flush for the last week or so, but on attempting to do so i realized that the roots are too intertwined to remove without hurting all 3 in the process.

so now im thinking that i am going to chop down the strawberry right on time at the end of the 10th week with no flush, and then let the other two go to 12 (which is the maximum i can do because my lease ends a week later and i need to dry them before i move out).

so my question is can i leave the roots from the strawberry floating around in the reservoir or will they rot and hurt the other two (especially while they are flushing)? or once the plant is gone will the roots shrivel up and make it easier for me to separate them from the others?

another question- i primarily vaporize with a volcano, so since i dont see a real way to flush the strawberry is it going have a significant negative effect on the final product? i know when smoking the nutes left in the bud give a harsh chemical taste, is it the same with vaping??

ill add some pics after 8pm tonight when they wake up

You need to clean out the dead roots. There are enzyme products which do this but, I'm drawing a blank.

You can definitely do multiple strains in ebb and flow, but you are doing DWC? There is no way you can time the PK 13/14 with them, and a final flush is a no go. I would stay 1750 ppm if they are all mostly mature and hope for the best.

I would love to be growing those. How about flushing for a week, cut down almost all of the first (that way the roots don't die). Then a week with more food, flush for a week cut #2, etc. They are all cool sativas and should be fine living as long as you give them light.

Peace :joint:

Take the strawberry out just carefully separate the roots as best you can, I do it all the time its not going to make that big of a deal. Some will break. Throw some hygrozyme in your res and you will be fine.

I have grown the ASH but not the others. I cut mine in several stages starting at week 12. Take a look the thread in my signature.

I would suggest you leave the ASH as is and cut it all at 12+ weeks. You can always take the top colas and let the rest of the plant ripen. This will prevent damaging the other plants and from shocking the plants causing lower final resin productions.

Hope this helps.

white farm fan... question... you let your ASH go for 12 weeks? from what i read its supposed to come down in 9-10... 10 weeks for me will be in 4 days, and although it is way further along then the other two it has not started going amber on me yet... i think my current plan is to put of chopping it as long as i can and then if i do have to do it early, i will leave some popcorn lower stuff just to keep the roots alive... thanks for all the advice yall, sorry for not posting pics, im feeling lazy!

if you leave some bottom leafy growth on the fist chopped plants, its roots will take a shock (not that it matters in this case), but i doubt they'll die back and rot.

Canna makes an additive that may help your problem. It is called Cannazym. Here is a link so that you can read what it does>

http://www.canna-uk.com/cannazym

It is made to break down dead roots and might take care of the dead ones that you can't get loose.

Good luck.
