Bust nets $600K in pot

A Nicholasville man is behind bars after a Tuesday night pot bust netted 300 plants from his house.

Jessamine County Sheriff deputies arrested ************, 26, 105 Davis Drive, and charged him with cultivating marijuana, more than five plants, a Class D felony. If convicted, ****** faces one to five years in prison.

Chief Deputy Allen “Doodle” Peel said the bust was one of the biggest in the county’s history, and the marijuana had a street value of $600,000.

“I can honestly say that from my (20) years, yes, absolutely, it was one of the biggest hauls we’ve had,” he said. “The revenue cabinet states that each plant is valued at $2,000, so we’re looking at a $600,000 street value.”

Sheriff deputies and members of the Nicholasville Police Department raided the home around 9 p.m. Tuesday after an extensive investigation, Nicholasville Police Chief Barry Waldrop said.

“This was the sheriff’s case, and we just assisted,” he said. “Both the sheriff’s department and the Nicholasville Police Department had been investigating this for some time, trying to get enough probable cause and evidence in order to get inside. Once we got it, it was a good case and a good bust. Everybody did a good job.”

An unmarked box truck and a pickup truck were brought in to haul the plants and other evidence away, Peel said.

Waldrop said the layout inside the house was elaborate.

“They had done a lot of work and had a lot of equipment on the inside,” he said. “They had it set up where you had the phase one, phase two and phase three (growing stages) in the rooms, and they had ventilation systems and they had lighting installed.

“They even had some lighting on the final phase set on tracks to make sure (the plants) received the proper amount of light. It was on a track on the ceiling, and it would glide back and forth to make sure the light was on the plants.”

****** is being lodged in the Jessamine County Detention Center on a $100,000 full-cash bond. He is scheduled to appear in Jessamine District Court at 1 p.m., Monday, May 18.

Peel said the JSO is continuing its investigation.

This was friend of mine/ ex-roommate.I removed his name to protect the guilty. The grow op was in a residential with a city cop as an immediate neighbor. You walk out the back door bam your practically in the cops driveway .Maybe 10ft separated the houses. :noway: Long story short if you know the cops are immediate neighbors, not a few houses down on the same block, but immediate next door DO NOT GROW. Just wait and find another spot. Being Bold, arrogant, greedy, cautious is no excuse to setup next to leo knowingly.

Strains that will be missed:
Sensi Star
Violator kush:

Master Kush
Burmese kush
Cheese
Blue Cheese
Hawaiian Snow
White Russian
Thai Super Skunk

Any questions feel free to ask

What happened to have them investigating him in the first place. What was the catalyst for it all??

From my understanding, a "concerned citizen" called in and said there was possibly a grow op. Also, heres the kicker you guys are going to love this one. He had two electricity bills in his name, at the residence in question and the the residence next to him. So the order went cops house, grow op, his actual residence. Lastly there was some traffic to boot. We havent spoken in sometime, but know some of the same people i was told he received 5 years probation.

My guess is the investigation stemmed from all the shit he had to carry into the place and out...I mean come on lol...

Let alone 300 plants in a residential?...Commercial in my mind, like that means commercial...farm land or otherwise. Seems they were far beyond arrogant.

I hate to see growers go down but you said it. DON"T GROW NEXT TO LEO! Cop's hate not being disrespected. they take things that happen around their stations/houses very seriously. All complaints and suspicious behavior will get looked into. I'm sure people have pulled it off but why? its not enough of a rush already? Makes no sense!

I love how the estimate 1 plant is $2,000. Like Its possible to get a HP or QP off of one plant. Who are they fooling here. Homey was growing next door to his house, did anyone live in that house or was it just a grow op. When you don't live in the same place as your op you have a way higher chance of getting busted.

It is if you grow scrog / vertical and veg long, usually higher plant # means smaller plants though. They correlate inversely which the law fails to account for. If you had 1 huge plant maybe you could get $2k no problem.

I used to live there, before we had some differences. So i left, and i was under the assumption that the grow op had long been shut down, well thats at least what he told me.

They were SOG. Plants were anywhere between 2-4'. Mosty in the middle.

It isn't the number of stalks that matters, it's the space & amount of light. It's maddening that they use a 'plant' as a unit of measure. Same thing in Canada, only they also figure the number of joints taken off the street. Gosh, what's the standard weight for a joint again? Maybe I should ask Tommy Chong...he's Canadian after all.
