Hey man..one of the best buds I smoked growing up was from my friends bag seed grow back in the 90's. There was this stuff going around back then in the NE US called Krypto and one of my close friends grew out some of the seeds and everyone that smoked the herb said it was some of the best they've had. Got the nickname "kreeper bud" b/c you wouldnt feel it hit you right away and then all of a sudden you were blasted, eyes peeled, grin glowing, bliss. So yea, I too enjoy searching through some bag seed from time to time. Nice pics everyone.

my contribution...

my contribution...

My test grow on my micro cabinet started with my cracking over 50+ bag seeds that I had collected from "good" seeds. I removed all males and herms at first sight. Ended up with 12 females of mixed and unknown ancestry and one Serious Ak47 from a few years back.

Here are results on day 88 from seed of the bag seeds:

magical mystery plant #3 on day 57 of 12/12

magical mystery plant #6 on day 57 of 12/12 (x100 shot is older)

#3 has a strong fresh scent and looks like a strong contender to become one of the moms in my box along with the ak:

AK47 on day 57 of 12/12 (not bagseed)

kaotic, I see brickseed indica in your sig. What's the difference in bag and brick. Most of the compressed I get has cracked seeds.

Bagseed IMHO is from good mids or something that would cost 50 an eighth. Your starting with better genetics than you would with brickseed. Brickseed is exactly that...from a brick. Less chance of finding a keeper but still good weed. I like brickseed for the hunt. I think I enjoy looking for that keeper more than actually finding it. The cracked seeds are a pain but you can find viable ones, come on now. The Rastafarian Funk I grew in my last run came from brick. I thouroughly enjoyed it.

I love the bagseed, It's all I've grown so far. When I get great weed from seeds I already paid for - by weight - I question why I would want to buy seeds even though I will buy some from wt420's Area51 once he's up and running to support the business. Sure, it's nice to know what to expect, but even two seeds from the same pack will be different phenos with unknown characteristics until flowered and put through a couple of clone runs. Why not just do it with the bagseeds? I understand the breeders and commercial guys wanting "known", predictable genetics, but the average slob like myself who grows for me and a friend or two? Baggie is just fine!

I'm trying to find a couple of good moms from the 16 bagseeds I have going right now.

Peace out and stay safe y'all!

My bag seed grow just came from some random seeds ive grabbed dont really know what kind of bud they came from....just from a shit load of seeds in a container. They were grown with 4 26watts cfl,1 19 watt. They have been outside for the past wk, but are coming back in for a couple days or so. They are on day 66 of flowering.

plant 1,Some foxtail action

plant 2, has a sweeter smell to it

plant 2,lower nugz

whats been your flowering times when u grow high quality comercial buds, buds that have alot of seeds in them.....still 8-9 week flower cycles generally or is it longer, thats the only worry really, like '' is this gonna be a 11 week mo foe ''?

Just wanted to say nice grows everyone. I have collected around 200 bagseeds from the greens you get in NYC..some better than others but from all the other stuff I have smoked, haze and others it is pretty good so I plan on starting with those..does anyone know where this bud is grown and mayb the lineage?

A lot of the [good] stuff you get in NYC is grown right there in NYC. I was having this convo with one of the backpack delivery guys a few years back. Some other stuff is brought in from Philly or Jersey, but by and large all of it is indoor headies, regardless of source.

By extension, any of the stuff you find in those bags is probably well suited to indoor cultivation, but be mindful of herms. There's been a huge upsurge in the amount of female seeds being used by commercial growers, for obvious reasons. In my experience, female seeds will throw a hermie flower or two, more often than not. Which is where you get your few, rare seeds per pound, etc. So the bud will be killer, but from hermie genetics.

Overall, what I'm trying to convey is be selective with your bagseed. Don't just pick them willy-nilly 'cause the idea of growing bag is appealing. Always bear in mind that killer genetics are a few clicks away via gypsy and others. It boils down to spend a little more money up front, or take a risk investing several months of your life into what could ultimately be bullshit.

Now granted, growing bagseed is great, and finding good stuff from that bagseed is even better. You get a strong feeling of satisfaction, like finding gold out in the wild somewhere, as opposed to buying it in a jewelry store. The sense of reward is that much greater. But also bear in mind there's much more fool's gold floating around, when compared to the real deal.

I envy peeps getting local grown headies. I live in the country, all the good stuff goes to higher priced markets. Brown clown is all that's available here on the street. I called this stuff shake n bake because it was half shake in the bag, hehe. Due to the many mature seeds, I guessed the strain was stable.

Good smoke, stable, healthy plant and large yield. Easy to grow, a winner all the way around. Oh yeah, it took 13 weeks to flower. Never again. It's good but not 13 weeks good.

Ive been growing bagseed (mids) for a while now and have got both indicas and sativas. the quality I would say would be on par with any headies I've smoked. there was one plant that threw nanners at about week 8 and i cut them off for about a week and chopped (early). it had a very spicy skunky smell, made my eyes water during manicuring, but was not very potent. but definitely better than what it came from. If one living in a temperate climate had in mind to isolate a strain to be grown and MAINTAINED outdoors for personal use only, would you say that seedbank stock would be preferable to,say,an outstanding Mexican farmed line from bagseed?Or is your advise pointed toward the average indoor grower not interested in line maintanence?Very good advice my friend.K++
Peace

i only grow bagseed. the stuff you buy was once bagseed too, hell its all bagseed. theres no magical seed fairy creating new strains out of thin air, it all started from a seed someone found in a bag of weed they bought. if i smoke some weed and it gets me good and blazed, i save any seeds i find. then i grow them out when i can. ive got a good collection going back 3 years or 4. i had another collection that i started in the 90's back when you got the reallly good weed on the streets. these days its all tasting the same. i think soon all the weed you find anywhere on the street will all be some plain jane vanilla breed.
