Only bees, mollusks and fish.

If you've got those in your grow room you've got bigger problems than gnats. lol

BTW, you could just buy gnatrol wdg (water dispersable ganulues) from bghydro and although more expensive probably have a much, much higher count of bt.

true, true that! lol. it was from a fish perspective. people drain their reservoirs and things.

Actually good point. I didn't even think about that. But i thought spinosad was a contact killer and not a systemic so i'm not sure why anyone would put it in their res.

As for the gnatrol wdg, here's a screen capture from their msds:

I wonder how many ITU's a dunk really has and what is the better value?

Wow. I find it hard to believe that a dunk with 1/3 the (solids, spores and insecticidal) concentration of gnatrol wdg has over twice the ITU (potency).

This doesn't sound right to me.

OP: What does the Floramite have in it to kill? Maybe I can find the same thing under another name around here. I have some Malathion, but I ain't used it, although it is a close thing... !!

Heres some general info for Floramite (this is the powder form though I think):

http://florawww.eeb.uconn.edu/msds/floramite_label.pdf

I used Floramite SC (which is liquid). The shit is really expensive, so I assume they have some type of patent on the specific ingredients, though there is other stuff that does the same type of thing (Avid?).

The local grow shops around here buy large amounts and then break it down into small 1oz bottles for $20-$30 which is all you really need since its a one time application.

using floramite to kill gnats is illogical and just downright crazy

bt (gnatrol, dunks, etc) + beneficial nematodes + diatomaceous earth + sand is all you need

FYI: Many "dunks" contain salt, plan accordingly.
I've seen a grow get fucked by dunks being used improperly.
Myself,I use Gnatrol, yellow sticky traps, and finally,I keep the plants on rolling casters to keep the wet, dark plant pot bottoms off of the floor. (Less breeding area for the little fuckers!)
The active ingredient in dunks and Gnatrol is the same,it's called "BT",and it's a bacteria that the gnat larvae eat,and die.
I do keep dunks in my run-off tubs under my veg plants, that way there's plenty of BT in the standing water, and no gnats.

Cheers!

funny how half the google image search results for it show images already uploaded to this site...

quit pussy footing around. use a multi-pronged attack including the no-pest strip.

Damn, didnt know they had salt in them. Has any1 measured their PPM after soaking these in water?

Ive used NoPest strips in the past when battling mites, and It does kill the adults gnats as well. But I have stopped using NPS just because I dont want to take any chances smoking that shit or breathing it in general.

Big debate on that here:

I may just be being paranoid, but I would rather have the peace of mind. :joint:

No Pest Strips are SO toxic,(super-mega carcinogenic!!) that it is illegal for the chemical used in them to be used in anything else sold in the USA.
That shit will kill anything, including people, and I wouldn't use it even if it was available over here-same with Avid.

If you have a mite issue, and floramite sc isn't cutting it due to the mites building a tolerance, you can always research Forbid,by Bayer, which is another very effective, yet chemically unrelated miticide. It's roughly $300USD for a 200ml bottle, but when used in a rotating schedule with floramite,it's 100% effective. Azatrol is (imo) junk,a $100USD bottle of "organic" crap.
Keep a clean room, and pay attention, and you'll find that alone goes a long way.

Cheers!

You have to use Azatrol/Azamax correctly for it to work.
You have to have complete coverage of all of the leaves (underside).
Impossible for tolerance build up with it as well.
Also keeps away powder mildew.
Not junk at all.
Also, Mosquito Dunks contain no salts.
It is a registered trademark so I can't speak for anything not called Mosquito Dunks.
If your shit is hardcore, use Mosquito Bits by the same company.

Doesnt say what inert ingredients are, but i does say its ok for flower pots. I dont have a PPM meter so I cant check myself, but im wondering if it would spike the PH or PPM when soaked in a gallon of water.

be sure they are fungus gnats and not root aphids.
i fought a losing battle against what i thought were fungus gnats....

Greyskull is right, check your medium.. if you have crawlies in your medium, then hit em with imidiclorpid.. Spinosad is awesome and works very well for all sorts of bugs, just not root aphids :(. Dunks are awesome and a very affordable form of BTI, BTI just takes time to work..
