I was quite blessed to be gifted some of Mossy's JEMs, and I'll be running some in DWC. These seeds are striking, a charcoal gray and jet black with a sheen. You know they are something special.

For this run I'm trying a new soilless mix to start the seeds off in: 2 parts horticultural vermiculite (not the course flake type I used before) to one part Miracle grow perlite.

I'll be watching this thread with much interest too. I recently was blessed with some Jems and plan on running them as soon as I put the finishing touches on a small cab I am working on. :D

Day 3: A video tutorial!

Day 3: A video tutorial!

At day 3 above soil the sprouts are ready to be transferred to pods.

Since it was asked for, here is a video showing how I transfer sprouts from soilless to mediumless:

Here they are in their new homes:

Straight water for 5 days or so, then perhaps 10% lucas formula to start out with.

Day 12

Day 12

:fsu:

Welll, damn. I always struggle with DWC on a new strain. They all react so different. What I've learned about the JEMs is they are nute-greedy right off the bat. The SNL I just ran didn't want any nutes until about day 14 or so, but the JEMs probably wanted at least 50% veg formula at day 4-5. At about day 8 I put them on that, but they definitely hurt from the few days of straight water. They completely ate up their cotyledons (starter oval nute leaves), and had some problems. Then at Day 10 I decided I would up them to 100% veg formula (5ml Micro / 10ml Bloom). Doh. Too soon. Bumped them back down to 50%, but of course, with 2 mistakes this early, things aren't looking so hot. They are probably stunted pretty good. Their water roots are coming along fine and whatnot, but there is alot of curled growth, spots, etc. I killed one off that was just pathetic...picture still shows 6 but the tiny one is gone now. Two do have somewhat purple leaves right off the bat, that's pretty cool.

Anyway, maybe they'll pull through, but I might have to start over. I know what they want now. Plus, I probably could have put them in DWC at Day 1 instead of waiting for Day 3, they had plenty of roots. Overall they look almost exactly how the SNL did at day 12, and they turned out alright, so, i might be fine.

Day 15

Day 15

Well, things are looking a bit better now. Still a bit on the small side, but the curling and spotting period is over.

And look at this? the runt has TWO main growth tips. Understandably, since it put all its energy into them, there are no real fan leaves yet. However, I'm thinking it might turn out pretty cool:

Day 29...well. Not good. Take a look at the cannabis infirmary post I made.

http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=131249

Everyone is welcome to take a guess, but this DWC is pretty much aborted: I don't think the plants will end up being anything worth the time it will take to finish them.

I want to stress this wasn't the genetics fault, it was my inexperience with the strain, and possibly something else, as I haven't seen this kind of spotting before. I will attempt this again soon, and try to keep this log updated, just in case I figure anything else out.

Aye m8..I would dump them.
Looking at the roots on your infirmary post..
even if you pull them round..they are as good as dead.

I Don't grow DWC..so I have No experience..but IMO..
the spots and that lax droopy growth and root damage says Stagnant Water.

Did the water Pong when you lifted them..any slime on the roots..?

Of course it the conditions are right they will thrive in DWC.

Yup..my m8 Outgrows me in hydro with the same genetics all the time.

IMO AF's grow better in hydro than compo
