I wanted to start a homebrewing thread for all the beer lovers that im sure are around here somewhere on this site. I have only been brewing for about 1 year so I know a good amount but I'm looking forward to hopefully learning a lot from everyone else. If you homebrew beer yourself or maybe would like to start and have some questions hopefully this can be a place to go.

It would be cool so see pictures of your finished brews, your brewing set up or anything else related. I will post a few pics of the next homebrew I open. Until then lets see some hombrewers!

welcome shaunmulok! yeah its a little pricey but once you get the equipment its not to bad and i bought my equipment kit for around 60$ and it had everything you need except a brew pot...hope to see you up and brewing again soon!

also you mentioned you hate cleaning bottles...i just rinse out my bottles after i drink them and when im ready to bottle them again i run them through the dishwasher and they are sanitized from the high heat...im not sure how you usually did it but this way was pretty easy for me

drank some beer!

drank some beer!

So i finally got around to takin a picture of my last homebrew. Its an IPA recipie I made that only has been in the bottle for about 2.5 weeks, so its good but after a few more weeks it will be aged well and taste even better. It's around 7.0% alc.

does anyone ever used some hash or raw cannabis along with hops....

i know hops is close to cannabis, but i m not sure if you can replace it...

i always wondered about getting some specific herb taste into food or drinks, but never manage to.... imagine a sour diesel beer, could be fun !

on one of my batches i added a a few handfuls of trim during fermentation to try to get the TCH into the alcohol but it didnt work very well...i think i needed a higher alcohol beer like above 10% and i should have used real bud...always next time

but as far as trying to add the flavor of some tasty bud i have not tried that, but its an interesting idea. I would imagine if you added it with your hops during the boil it would have to give some flavor...ill have to give it a try in an upcoming batch

i would mix the sanitizing solution in a large bucket or tub maybe one of those rubbermaid ones and then you can drop all 50 or so of the bottles in at once...but i agree dealing with bottles is a bitch, now i know why ppl end up kegging their homebrews

Yes washing the bottles is the bitch of brewing...never the less...it is still worth the trouble...I grew up on the old style "explosive" crude home brew...I have been brewing my own beer longer than I have been growing my own weed...and I have been growing since the early 80's...I usually make 2 batches at a time...I brew everything from a Corona knock off to a very dark Irish stout...I have a Bavarian Amber Ale that I mix with my Irish stout that makes a killer "black and tan" and tests out approximately 17 % a glass..and is an excellent "in for the night" type of beer...full of flavor and body...I do have an advantage with having a brewing supply house here in town..and they carry a very extensive line of kits and raw supplies for all degrees of brewing knowledge...I would be more than happy to post recipes for any one interested...I have 12 cases of 6 different beers aging now....and getting ready to run off a couple more in the next week
Any body that is a Corona drinker...I can recommend the Coopers Mexican Cerveza Malt...it is a simple basic all inclusive kit...mix brew and bottle...it is an excellent lite amber full bodied beer...glad to see there are brewers here at ICMag:joint:...

gtbuds2332: Yeah just honey and water really but it's traditionally flavoured up with a few things orange is a well known one :)

I have no pics online :( I did have one feck knows there it gone now but it was of a coopers mexican cerveza, as I have only brewed kit beers, turbo ciders(made from juice), and now mead :) Might give wine a go one day and then brandy ;)

I will make a diary here just for you guys then when I do these meads so you can see what's involved :) You don't need much to be honest and it's very simple!

My equipment consists of:

One 5 gal fermentation bucket with lid and markings,
One plastic mixing spoon,
1 length of syphoning tubing,
One hydrometer(think thats what its called is measure alcohol in water),
One thermometer,
One pressure barrel with CO2 adaptor(no CO2 cylinder or bulbs yet)
Some fermentation strength bottles(recycled),
12 2L PET bottles(recyled),
One capper.

I don't have a mash tun or fruit pulper yet :( I want both to and will if I can find some more space in my tiny lil house without pissing off the misses hehe :)

Here's some of my previous brews:

Coopers Mexican Cerveza, 1kg Muntons Beer Enhancer, supplied yeast. OG 1040 - Caster sugar primed in 2l PET.
Costa Blackcurrent 2*2L, Costa Exotic 2*2L, granulated sugar 500g. OG 1044. FG 992 - Caster sugar primed in 2L pet.
Costa Apple 9*2L, Costa Exotic 2*2L, granulated sugar 1.8kg. OG 1050. FG 995 - Caster sugar primed in 2L pet.
Tesco Pure Apple Juice 6*1L, Tesco Pure Pineapple Juice 2*1L, Rowse Acacia Honey 2*340g. FG 990 - Caster sugar primed in 2L pet.
Coopers Mexican Cerveza, 1kg Muntons Beer Enhancer, supplied yeast. OG 1040. FG 1000 - Granulated sugar primed in pressure barrel.

wow that "black and tan" sounds like a bold beer, i would love to try some of that...do you do all grain or do you use extracts? When you run some more off next week you should give us a glimpse of the action.

Startin to get some good stuff on here guys, keep it coming! peace
