exactly...

prove a point when you get that much attention...

what point do they try to prove? apparently:

OMG MARKETING & SCRIPT KIDDIES WTF WTF

stupid.

not even a good reason to hack.

I disagree, the world AS A WHOLE has been corrupted by CORPERATE GREED and SCARE TACTICS through the BLATANT MANIPULATION of public media such as radio and T.V.

YOU ARE LIVING IN THE MATRIX... just because we don't have people dodging bullets and destroying building with their fists doesn't mean that you aren't being manipulated from the time you're able to conceive your first thought.

I get that.

I want full disclosure; yes marketing, corporate greed and scare tactics are all bad things, but as an intelligent grown adult i know what to believe and what not to believe. There are MORE important things to worry about, such as legalization of marijuana, ending of the current wars overseas, etc.

If you fall for or play into the scare tactics/corporate greed, then that's just natural selection at work IMHO.

Who says we don't have people dodging bullets and destroying buildings with their fists? :D

Now if they'd put some of that stuff in their mini-festo there I might actually have gotten a little worked up. Start stretchin, maybe throw a few karate kicks in front of my computer 'n shit...just to keep in shape.

Just some punk geeks upset about secret exploits being published...

Would of been more proper for them to attack a security vendor with that message.

Everyone is a target, blah blah, will be rm -rf /*'d, blah blah. Same old song and dance. Grow up.

I love how people act like they could do this on their lunch break...lol.

Some people do. :abduct:
Actually that's why my buddy got kicked out of high school back in the day. Hacking into shit during lunch using the district computers. Very smart in some ways, very dumb in others.

Thank you. It's like being mad at the FBI for tapping your phone...so you go out and beatup a half-witted meter maid to prove how tough you are. Not impressed.

They're mainly out for some kind of e-street cred.

What folks should be worried about is the sites that are not defaced. Computer Espionage is big nowadays with state sponsored hackers/crackers and organized crime.

What these punks are lacking is proper organization.

Lets speculate, one reason they defaced the site because they knew they couldn't maintain access to it for a period of time....

This is NOT the full disclosure they are talking about. They are talking about how every time a flaw is found in software, it is published for the whole world to exploit.

I'm partial to the notify deadline. Notify the publisher of the software and wait for them to acknowledge it. If they don't acknowledge it by a set deadline, you release the exploit, effectively FORCING them to act by way of public outcry.

actually, I believe this was just a way for them to get their msg to a mass audience within a small amount of time... I don't believe it was meant to be a threat "this is what will happen to you" as much as it was meant to be informative "this is what it happening" So many people go through life thinking that everything is fine until they get blindsided and all you ever hear those people say is "how did this happen?" This was a prime example of how "this could happen"... who the fuck wants to report an exploit when there's a 1000 script kiddies waiting for the next one to be reported... I agree with TTB, notify with a deadline... force companies to take responsibility... not unlike what needs to happen with our government... nothing is going to change unless we, the people, force it to. :2cents:

There are respectable sites to attack to post such a "warning". No one is going heed this so called warning.

Ethical "hackers" if and when they find vulnerabilities notify ONLY the company or person(s) who developed the flawed software.

So many people and companies disregard computer security as a whole, you can scour the internet and find thousands of machines running antiquated software that is vulnerable to KNOWN security flaws and which public exploits are available for.

Again these misguided people("anti-security", for the time being[tomorrow they'll go by another alias]) lack a proper goal and organization.
