Soilless Mix Formula help

What can I put in a soilless mix besides peat moss and perlite?

The plants i got right now are in a 50/50 mix straight peat moss, perlite and 2 tablespoons pulverized dolomite lime. I think I got PH problems. I haven't tested the run off yet but in a day or 2 I will be able to test it.

I want to do like 65% perlite 35% peat moss and 2 tablespoon of dolomite lime.. I use PBP Nutes with Liquid Karma and Cal-Mag plus.

I have put algamin kelp before but I don't think I will need it because the Liquid Karma seems like it is derived from it.

So in a good soilless mix what am I missing? Do you guys really think it is worth it to add 10% or more worm castings? Worm castings are kind of expensive 60 bucks for 60 lbs. But if you guys think it is worth it I will definitely purchase some. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated. !!!

are ya following a redipe..how much mix did ya start with a cu foot, dolomite can be strong stuff..

go get ph drop kit and test your water then the run off ( ph is way important to know)

as far as the casings with those nutes I wouldnt think they would be neccesary at this point..

My Mix

My Mix

I use 50% promix, 25% perlite, and 25% wormcastings. I fert with organic nutes. Good taste. :smoker:

not following a real recipe. I was but I lost it. Im buying a new 2.2 cu foot of peat moss soon. I do 2 tablespoons per gallon.

i wish they had promix at lowes. I am planning on going organic in the future. chemical liquid ferts are just easier at this stage of my growing career.

Oh um I measured 2 tablespoons of dolomite per gallon of soil. I just got done testing the PH and it stabilized at 6.5. I know its barely within guidelines I guess i'll have to keep checking it and see what turns out. In the meantime i'm gonna post some pics in the infirmary. I can post them here too if ya like. Shouldn't be more than a couple days until I get them up. thanks for the well wishes Vegan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I ran 63.5% perlite and 36.5% peat moss for my latest mix. I transplanted the old plants into this mix. I hope i dont have any moisture problems because the plants before were mixed with roughly 50% peat 50% perlite.

I think next time I make up a big batch of soil i'm goin to use worm castings. It just seems like I got better results from past a past grow.

Thanks for stopping by Hank. I want to use organic nutes too but im taking baby steps.

dump the peat moss for COCO it's better for the environment and traps nutrients well. I use coco and perlite with good organic soil but worm castings would do wonders also. Coco is cheap and plentiful.

IDK why 2 tablespoons is the magic # but its puts my ph right around where you are

I would definitly go with the worm casings ..( i havent needed to add any yet, but its on my list of things to try..)
im also defitly going organic next year

Im runnin a mix real similar to yours cept Im going like
20% perlite 50% moss and 30% premixed organic soil(it contains peat, perlite, guano ect) from the local nursery, MajPot head turned me on to it and while its quite hot for seedlings , i havent needed to add any nutes and its been over 5 weeks vegging..

i tried all the soils available at lowes --Kellogs organic was good but I got a serious fungas gnat problem with it ( chicken manure is in it):noway:

as far as promix goes I cant find any in town that Im willing to pay for, the hydro store has it but for the $ they want I would just run FF soil..

you are definity heading in the right direction.. baby steps
peace
