Working out + MJ

So almost like a thread related to the 100 pushup challenge...

I frequent the gym, and love working out...great stress reliever not to mention it gets your ass in shape!

My problem has always been cardio, running, etc.

Being that i smoke every day, it has practically been impossible to keep a good regimen going of running daily. I've slowly introduced it back, and am gettin back in the groove of things..and OMG i can't even explain how good it feels the night after a nice run/cardio workout.

I had a goal with lifting, which i do for 20-30 mins a day, then 20-30 mins of cardio. That goal was curl 125-150, and bench 300. Currently...bench 280-285, and curl is 100-115 ish. I'm close! Love the feeling you get after settin down the barbell and feeling how pumped you are..

I went from doing it to get in shape to loving it...why?

Do an exhausting cardio workout to the point where you're dripping sweat.

Shower.

Smoke.

Best fucking feeling in the world. Like the first time getting high...every day! Hahaha.

I want to be able to run 2 miles straight. I can run a lap, pause, run another lap, pause, run another lap. (full pace run not jog) so 3/4ths a mile at a pop, but what i normally do is the bike or elliptical for 10-30 mins, then run some laps. Jogging i could prob make a mile or more.

Who else partakes in the lifting of heavy objects and getting super high afterwards? :)

Lifting weights to gain mass and killing yourself with cardio cancels eachother out. I've been on a bulking cycle for almost 2 years now, if you keep your diet perfectly in check and make sure to hit all areas of your body with weights the need for cardio kinda goes out the window. You will still be able to gain mass, minimal to no fat gain and have a noticable weekly increase in stregth. I wouldnt ask for advice here, instead check out bodybuilding. com, they have f*ck loads of articals, excercises, store and a forum over there. You could basically become a pro body builder if you just go over there and read everything they have to offer. I get high before every session.

I hit a new PR on front squats yesterday. :joint:

I don't really understand the running thing-you're not doing yourself any favors in terms of body composition and muscle development. But if you enjoy it, that's what counts!

You could try some calisthenics or plyometrics to get that heart pumping too. What I found useful was something I read in the Tao of Jeet Kune Do: incorporating various exercises into your day to day life. For example, whenever I stand still (for example, queueing up in a shop, waiting around, putting my trousers on, etc), I always stand on one leg and practise balancing. Whenever I have a 5 minutes walk to the shop and back, I don't walk, I bloody leg it there, and back again afterwards. I always run up stairs too. Once you get into the habit of doing these things, your cardio will go straight up and you actually don't realise you're doing it after a while.

But yeah, I love working out and having a smoke afterwards. I like telling myself that if I don't complete this last set and do at least 10 reps, I can't have that doobie at the end. I end up working a lot harder.

Target heartzone treadmill for 30 minutes,stretching/seudo-yoga, then into a much lighter circuit training regimen of my past, not going for size anymore (don't need it) just fast-twitch and tone along with weight maintenance.

It's all about the reps now for me.

I need at least of couple of hours after training before I can hit anything though....and yes, it's gooooood. :yeahthats

me too

I run/speed walk in the woods 4-5 miles three times a week. the route I have been doing this season creates really good intervals of work, with one real solid .75 mile hill towards the end.

getting high after exercise is fun.

Physical labor is good for you. :D

Munchies are awesome for gaining weight and smoking cannabis helps relax your muscles.

Someone asked if I was taking steroids or anything performance enhancing. I said I just smoke pot. They lol'd.

:joint:

Can't say it makes me run faster or anything.

Cardio is necessary to grow, don't be fooled. However, doing 2 miles straight shouldn't be your goal if you want to get bigger. Your cardiovascular system has to be able to carry that weight you're putting on if you're getting bigger, otherwise you'll be the most out of shape buff guy, gasping for air after climbing a flight of steps. 20mins about 3-4x a week is good, never run, keep your heart rate between 120 and 140 bpm. This is the bare minimum recommended cardio.
