hey everyone...
its been a while sinse ive done this.
but i got a new room....
now i dont have a tape measurer. but i got a good idea what the room's size is...
looks about 12 feet wide. 10 feet back. and about 8 feet high...

setup..
3,600 watt hps lights. air cooled.....

now my question involves the carbon filter and exaust fan.
i was plannin on using this exaust fan.
http://cgi.ebay.com/10-Inch-HV-INLI...id=p4634.c0.m14.l1262&_trkparms=|293:1|294:30

now...
will this be enough??
ive been reading a bit on the matter and realize with a carbon filter it will take about 30-40 cfm off of that..so will 750 cfm be enough to keep the room cool and smell free????

any info would help.. ive grown multiple times befor. just never had the extra cash to buy carbon filters and such so i just wanna make sure i get this right...
also about what size carbon filter should i use with 3 600 wattters?????
thanksss

your room would be 960 cubic feet so i don't think that fan will be enough but i could be wrong. hope that help's and good luck

Effective treatment requires the exchange of air in the growing area in a period of 5 minutes. Compute your requirements by multiplying the width times the length times the height of your growing area to obtain the total cubic feet. Divide this number by 5 to determine the proper filter size needed.

For example, if your growing area is 8 feet long by 8 feet wide by 8 feet tall, it contains a total of 512 cubic feet. To treat this area in five minutes, you would need to use a fan with a CFM (cubic feet per minute) rating of approximately 102. The GrowBright 6" Inline fan that is recommended for this system (sold seperately) is rated at 424 cfm so this combo is more than enough for any medium to medium/large sized grow room! It's always better to have a little more filtering than a little less for the most effective results.

.....

well.. i did the math and it broke down to 1,152....now with this cubic feet per min.

what size carbon filter do i need?? and how much bigger of a fan. or how many more fans do i need to make this work???
somebody pleassseee
im tryin to order this asap!

Most rooms will be subjective. It depends what your outside temperatures are, as well. As far as the carbon filter, a +/- 100-cfm difference isn't a cause for much concern. Try to roughly match them up; if you get an 8" inline (750cfm?), you'll probably see a charcoal filter with an 8" flange on the top that roughly matches your fan. Same with the 10" (850cfm?). You may have to incorporate a chiller/AC into the set-up as I'm not sure an exhaust fan alone will keep the heat from 4KW's at a reasonable, acceptable (78-80'ish/no CO2; 80'ish-85/with CO2) level. You'll have much better results if you add CO2 and try to exhaust less; ambient CO2 levels are only 300-400PPM, and you ideally want 1500PPM. Your plants will reach a certain stage and then they tend to yellow and tip-over quickly, due to CO2 starvation; it isn't really noticed with only a few plants and one light in the room, but when you have a few lights, or more, it's quite apparent.

Edit: I see that you have 3, 600-watt lights. I thought you had 3600-watts, total. My mistake. 1800-watts should be relatively easy to deal with in a 10' X 12' room.

thanks alot van...
i think ima just get the biggest inline fan i can. like 12"
and as far as a chiller... i already have ac in that room. 2 vents in that room to be exact. and i plan on keepin it around 70 deggrees with lights on...
does this sound like it should be good????
also.
outside temp is very hot.. like 85 plus. with alot of humidity.... but like i said i keep my house cold....

thanks alot for the reply...
ill have to show you how it turns out...
