Question?? Multiple Scrog Cabinet!? 4800w!

Just tossing up the idea of building multiple "Scrog Cabs" in a fairly large room. The room is 14x13 and would like to line the room with 8 decent size cabinets, with the advantage of utilizing a 600w hps per cab! Ideally, I have seen some mates achieve anywhere from 10 zips to 16 per 400w so my hopes are 1# per cab(with a 600w air cooled in each) with the end results being 8#'s. I am aware that this equation is strain dependent as well as if the grower utilizes Co2 as well as a million other factors, and honestly I'm not asking this. My question is the engineering behind the cabs? What do you IC maggers feel is the best layout with the room size and how to air cool many cabs in succession? Thank you All for any input and Bless!:joint:

wow...this is pretty funny...i have a notepad next to my desk where I have been drawing out my whole plan for this same exact setup...
my plans are for 8 cabs double stacked so 4 wide and 2 high...since SCROG doesn't get tall..and run 2 plants per cab under 600w hps on a EBB Flow system, run 4 ballasts and do the ballast/light swap so 4 are on during the day and 4 on at night...running a common or possibly two res'...
...if you start yours first...it will give me a chance to learn from any issues you have  hahaha...ill keep up on this thread to see what you do!

good luck!

Cheers mate, Great minds think alike! I admire new ideas and I believe consolidation of light is paramount when growing and this may be great. This idea we have definitely breaks the ordinary "design" and is unique in many ways. I will have pics and info posted once I get a solid construction schematic complete, (with help of my fellow IC mates) in due time. I thought I may have been a bit mad when I conjured up this fantastical idea, but I'm high and sane mate. Cheers.!:joint:

I liked the idea so I could run different strands and different lights to see what I like...im doing my design on the comp too so Ill post up my design soon!

Sounds great, we can take this to another level. I admire your ideas. Can't wait to see what you conjure up as well. Cheers mate.

with that many watts and cabs why not just make a whole room?

My hypothesis on cabinets:
PROS
-easier climate control
-more directed light
-ability to run different strains at different nuet levels
-ability to run different flowering cycles (ie starting different dates)
-double stacking cabinets saves floor space
-can run 2 lights per ballast and do a "light flop" every 12 hrs

CONS
-more construction
-more $ to setup

just to add fuel to the fire i thought about maybe using a "V" shaped screen to maximize cover

that would be a good idea with my thought of doing 2 plants per cabinet...a "V" shaped screen would give a few extra inches to the tray size, but I wonder if that would be any different then just letting them grow up...something I wouldn't mind trying...

good idea!

I couldn't agree more on all premise of this conversation. True details mate! Also, Provided the space of some rooms, the theory is consolidating the light so you don't have to line the ceilings with like 12k.. Just a thought. Its like many "mini" rooms with a huge hps light, and each bud being a plant. lol

I am reading back over my posts after 4 hrs at Hooters...so I might be a little off..but yea...the whole idea of "multiple mini rooms" has been an idea of mine after Ive set up my closet as a whole grow room...its jiust much more controllable in the smaller spaces (at least my hypothesis(...so thats what I plan for nxt grow...or maybe a couple grows down the line...depending on the$ income...haah

Vertical scrogs give a lot more light. Check out the vertical section. You can still build single light cabs, or mulit-light, and get more than 1# per 600.

Yeah, I'm wondering what a good size "footprint" for the light will be, My intended screen size is 3x3ft each to get 1 # per 600w. The ceiling size i'm not sure yet. I think like 4 ft. Not sure mate. what do you think? cheers.:joint:

I have gotten a pound from a 600 from 1 plant with scrog and top44. Same screen size of 3x3 and about 5 weeks of veg. This was in a 10 gallon dwc tub ( don't do that, had to add water every day). Minimum of 18 gallon tub.
