first indoor grow! starting to flower!

Hey there!

Im doing my first grow indoors! :woohoo:

Here's my setup.

Secrete Jardin dr40 (small I know, just for personal, and trying not to piss off my girl :noway: )

8 26w CFL
2 42w CFL

switching between 2700k and 6500k as needed and ratios as well.

1 120mm comp fan intake
1 120mm comp fan blowing across
1 120mm comp fan blowing up above lights
1 105cfm muffin fan exhausting

temps around 24-26 3 inches below lights ( hum. 35%-40%)... hot summer days have been hurting me so I have been lowering the watts in the space...

Early wonder Skunk growing, my only 2 fems outta 10 pack

small pots...less than a gallon... I have gallon pots for next grow.

I took pics while they where outside enjoying the day with me!

let me know what you guys think... thanks!

Your fan situation could get you into trouble. The fastest (if not the only) way to positive pressure is intake fans. Because your intake fan is stronger than your exhaust I'd expect scrubber failure. Negative Pressure for Dummies

You'd be better off putting the 120 mm on the exhaust and having two passive 120 mm intakes.

the intake fan is a less powerful fan than the 105cfm exhaust... i think the computer fan is around 40-50cfm

i dont plan on using a scrubber for now... i have been using ona pro and it seems to be working good... but i could do a diy carbon scrubber to this 4" muffin fan i think? but so far the ona is good and i dont have to be too stealth...

my tent has good negative pressure... like the sides of the tent suck in when i close it... is that a good or bad thing?

i kinda figure i would have a pc fan blowing intake at the tent window as it is the only way to have unrestricted flow... i read the airflow guide but maybe i have it all wrong??

Looks good so far. Next time definitely go with the 1 gallon pots...and if you're going to do a small grow like that it's best to start from clone, they tend to do better in small pots than plants grown from seed.

nobody else is going to so i will... all them bulbs are overkill.. is the dr40 1'4" x 1'4"..?
i would have went with 1-125w cfl or maybe 1-200w cfl and called it a day

ya prob... i like the fact that for the same price ( around $100-$150) of a 200w cfl i have over 260 of both spectrums.... those cfls are like 8 bucks a pack of 3... so i can set up a mother/clone cab without buying anything more. In a year or so I will most likely upgrade...

is having this much light bad? i can control temps fine but i cant put the powerbar of lights to close (like 3-6 inches)

would i be better with less lights closer?

42w bulbs will penetrate deeper but be hotter per watt. 26w bulbs will be optimally cool per watt, but penetrate to less depth. Multiple light sources change the game when it comes to the inverse square rule. So multiple smaller lights in a small space can be better for your plants than similar wattage from one bulb.

Grown under six 42w 2700k CFLs (252w) sharing a two square foot space with five other plants:

AK47 on day 57 of 12/12 in 1/4 gallon container. (~24" tip to floor)

not the best, means your fan is struggling to pull enough air through your intakes.increase you intake inlets or add more until your tent isn't sucking in.

ok, I opened up another window in the tent and angled the tent against the wall in my closet so no light leaks anywhere, and i seems to be WAY better!! thanks swampy!!

its pulling the tent in slightly still, but in a good way i think :joint: i dunno, its better, and thats good with me!! thanks again! temps are fine!

Regarding your tent being "sucked in," this means that you have some healthy negative pressure which is good as it prevents any non-scrubbed/treated tent-air from escaping. If you feel it is too much (physically for the tent or for the fan(s)), open some passive venting.

thanks everyone! you guys defiantly helped me manage my heat better... its all about the airflow :joint: 24c feels so nice at the canopy top!

+rep for all the help to ya all! :woohoo:

Looking great! Great nutes, they have little nitrogen and thats why the leaves start to yellow... having 5-6 weeks left I would just keep an eye on it. Keep up the good work!
