The last one that really stood out for me was a 1996 Marlstone from Clos Du Bois. It was a very nice blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, and 10% Malbec.

Hey Mrs. Babba

Hey Mrs. Babba

I wasn't sure if I was allowed to post in here, but wine's another passion of mine so I thought I would. I've been lurking the last few years, but becoming a regular again.

I only buy BC wine. So lucky to be from wine county. I enjoy both reds & whites, with a slight preference these days for whites. Lake Breeze Pinot Gris is one of my faves. I'm always on the lookout for good wine under $20.

In my personal opinion the wine country in Oregon and Northern California is second to none.

excuse me ladies, know it´s your forum but saw this one and couldn´t restrain!

im a HUGE fan of wine, mostly reds. Malbec is my favorite, but like to try all the strains i can. Having a glass right know, while cooking, smoking and listening to music, just love it!

I love to have a glass or two of red wine at the end of each work day. Or at noon on the weekends. My wine of choice these days...Bogle Cabernet...$9.99 a bottle.

I just received a bottle of a 1949 Grand Cru Clase as a gift!!!

I am so stoked right now!
I've had Opus, Caymus, a whole slew of excellent reds, but this is by far the finest wine I've ever gotten, and now I have to pick someplace to take it for dinner; this ain't no cheeseburger wine. :)

HMMMMMMMMM wine:woohoo:

Nothing above pinot noir, love it Bourgogne rules!

Much better to find than Louis Jadot, but also worser! For that money you can get outstanding pinots, if you know where, hehe, lol!

So much small vineries and talented young winemakers out there!

Back soon!

Variety is always best!

What to drink, hhmm?

A Pinot Grigio would be kind of crisp, possibly with a bit of sweetness.

For sweeter whites, check out the Rieslings or Gewurztraminer.

Then for even sweeter whites, check out some of the desert wines such as Sauternes, Muscat, or Monbazillac. These desert wines are within the $12 range and quite tasty.

For sure Pimot Grigio/Gris can be finished sweet but not typical. Most US Gewurz and Reislings are poor compared to their German/Alsace counterparts but yeah great sweet wines would be something like a German Kabinet. To me desert wines like a Sauterne are not drinking wines but for sipping.

I love Louis Jadot Beaujolais-villages!

I like that too. .. Kind of a Burgandy, but not allowed to be called that because of the legal requirements in Europe (what we call a Pinot Noir).

Anyway, a nice inexpensive wine. The French make fun of it. That is why it is so cheap.

Isn't it kind of like Champain without the bubbles?

Not one bit. Champagne can be dry (well we call it "brut" actually) or "half-dry", but not sweet like those desert wines that have just been mentioned. Actually Monbazillac is produced in my area, and Sauternes just around the corner (two hours drive), with the rest of the Bordeaux wineyards, so I can almost say it runs out of the kitchen tap, over here
