There is definately a niche for "x-treme smokers" (sorry for the lame term). Just dont tell them about using magnifying lenses. those flexible fresnel magnifiers (like the full page ones) are super portable, very effective, and cant really break. so dont tell the snowboarders about solar puffs.


fisher: AGREED!! be VERY careful with those large fresnel lenses. I ripped a hole through 3/8" plywood in less than a minute. very powerful stuff

anyone who thinks solar puffs are stupid, are themselves, fucking stupid.

i really dont think a solar puff can be beat, especially when it comes to hash/kief, etc. with good hash you can not fully focus the beam and soften it up, watching it melt... then just blaze it.

It's already been done Genkisan,bout 100 yrs ago,there are a couple solar pipes that were patented.Obviously they didnt take off too well,a fad at best.When it's nite,when it's cloudy,when it's raining,when the sun just aint shining................ALL you solar puffers are using a lighter or match,and if you live in Washington state..............your using waterproof matches!!

Uugh...I feel compelled to describe my first solar rip.

Sigh...

Two of my friends were mixing records in his parents basement when I showed up. I had 5 grams of stuff called "rape weed" that was popular around these parts at the time. It was an indica cross that was continually harvested a couple weeks or so too late so it was covered in dark amber trichs, made the bud look dirty or dusty. Reeked of spices and incense, this was a real knock out.

I pulled the bag out of my jacket pocket and slapped it on the table. My buddy gave me a grimaced look and informed me that he had just broken his bubbler. Shit! What were we to do? We decided to go upstairs and raid the fridge. We brought back a 3/4 gallon jug of water and began to make a gravity bong with that and a 5 gallon bucket. Once we put everything together, we went out to my buddies back yard and sat on his hot tub in the sun. Since the sun was so bright my buddy asked if I had ever taken a solar rip. I said no, although I knew exactly what he was getting at.

He went to his room and came back with a 10" lens his dad recovered from a teardown at Mitsubishi Silicon America here in Oregon. I have no idea what it was from, just that it was a lens and now we were going to use it as a magnifying glass.

The thing was heavy...like close to 25 pounds. It was a little difficult to get the thing to point right at the bowl, but we eventually rested it between two chairs with the gravbong below it. I took the first hit...packed close to a gram in the damn bowl. One buddy pulled the bucket up while the other made sure the magnifying glass moved appropriately.

There was a slight crackle and within seconds, the bowl was sucked through--not even filling the water jug completely with smoke. As I looked at it, I noticed the smoke was thicker than I've ever seen and was the color brown. I took the whole hit down and held it for 10-1 thousand counts. Big mistake.

I'm not sure I remember when or if I ever stopped coughing, but I do recall lying on the floor in my buddies turntable room laughing uncontrollably at the fact that my friends were no longer speaking english.

Eventually, the high progressed to visual and auditory hallucinations...I got violently ill and turned pail; passing out on a pool table. I woke up and it was no longer 1pm, it was 1am.

solar hits are great I used to underestimate the effect of butane on the taste of headie buds...with the solar hits its like a mix between the vaping taste and smoking but it really does taste better. Wish I had tried this when I still had a few grams of bubble..

Solar hits are great though, best ever was some mendo purps bud, topped with hash made from the same, and a clean glass bowl, mmm.

its def my fav thing to use next to my vapolution
smokin via magnifying glass is probably the cleanest,tastiest and most potent way to smoke ur bud if not using vaporizer
takes a lil bit of practice to look past the concentration of light on ur bowl so u don't hurt ur eyes when u solarsmoke frequently..
dont think i ever burnt my hands tho lol thought i heard that complaint a few times .

i take advantage of every sunnyday to solar smoke plus it gets outside in beautiful mother nature. if u dont or havent solar puffed u should!!!
