Wife wants to make a cross country trip to visit family. Time away is looking to around 2 - 2 1/2 weeks.
With an indoor soil grow going, How would you handle watering issue?
I don't have a buddy that can come over and water, so that's out of the question.
I was thinking maybe along the lines of 20oz/2liter bottle spikes or maybe a gravity feed drip system.

Any ideas or any examples/blueprints of ways you would OR have handled such a problem.

Thanks in advance and have a safe happy

never done this yet, but if i was in that spot
i would rig a large rez, and run some tubing
i have to water everyday on the larger plants (1gal bag)

actually thinking about hooking it up anyhow just cause i'm lazy :joint:

that's kind of the route i was thinking. gravity feed drip. play with the height of the rez to manage flow.

thanks for post B.B

hum 2wks is a long time buddy even in a rez as your water level drops and time is added in your PH will be way outta range. General Hydroponics flora series seems very stable when kept in the rez. i'll r research this some and see what i can dig up

You should probably also decrease lighting to a single cfl to reduce the plants' need for water/nutes. Still, 2 1/2 weeks is a long time......good luck.

Wow, don't envy you on this one... had to tangle with 12 days away last year. I did the aqua globes for the large ones, they did decent but the soil was a little dry when I got back... wish I had found those water spikes, would have gone much better with 2 lt's of water. For my little ones I poked a bunch of little holes in some aquarium tubing and ran that under a fairly deep bed of perlite in a plastic tub. Hooked the tubing to a little aquarium pump on a timer that pumped water from a rubbermaid tub. I popped a few extra holes in the bottom of the cups and buried them about 1/3 of the way down in the perlite bed. It worked out pretty well, only lost one. Good luck to you!
