Who wants to quit smoking cigs...

I have the most addictive personality of all time, and was able to quit fairly easily. The trick is using the nicotine gum.

The need for the chemical is easily sated with the gum; on-demand as an addict would require. I don't like the patch because i wasn't able to participate in the timing of my "fix". chew and park (in the cheek). chew and park. as needed. don't just chew endlessly. park it in your cheek until you need another fix and then take a few good chews. Eventually the piece will run out of nicotine.

If the 2mg gum doesn't satisfy you, get the 4mg. make sure you use the one that satisfies you initially. no point in wanting for nicotine (or you'll smoke) , do what you gotta do to get your fix via the gum.

Over the next 4-6 months, just titrate (taper) down off the gum. By this time, you've forgotten about the oral fixation and it's just a gum thing.

slowly titrate until the dose and duration is so far apart that you can just switch to dentyne. Poof, you're done :)

I've used it twice now with great success......... i quit caffeine simultaneously.

Of course I discovered vicodin after all this but hey, i wasn't smoking !

Good luck, you can do it!!!!!

i hate my disgusting 25 yr habbit and im on the marb reds i am ready i hope im strong enough

you are. if i can, ANYONE can. Cliche, but true. And hey, once you've quit, the healing of your body will begin immediately :) Cilia will grow back (prepare for coughing during that), lungs will clear up...... your body will heal itself up.;

I smoked reds for 11 years; not quite 25 but i was able to do at as i indicated with the gum. YMMV, but you will make it.

That Chantix crap made me wanna kill myself and take a few people out with me for good measure. That stuff is evil. If anybody needs a year's supply or so, let me know, you can have it for free. Yuck. It's so horribly expensive, I ain't thown it out.

Still haven't bought any Marlboros yet......... I still can't get my head around not smoking. The physical craving stuff ain't no biggie, it's the "well, I'll have a cig now" that runs through my head every 2 minutes.... This is definitely a more mental thang for me than physical addiction at this point. Wonder what'll happen when the weed runs out? Uhoh!

Sorry to hear that the chantix did those things to you. I'm glad that it didn't have that effect on me. All I know is that I have tried gum, patch, zyban... Nothing worked. I do know people that have successfully quit using the gum, so it just didn't work well for me.

When I took the chantix I cut the pills in half and I just used it for 10 weeks. I weened myself off of the chantix over a few days instead of stopping it's use cold. Also when I started I just took a half pill a day for a few days. The only side effects that I experienced was a slight sensitivity to light and dry mouth. My brother who quit with me took the full dose and he experienced nightmires and slight depression for a couple days after stopping use.

i went from smoker to smoking some and dipping some...then doing a lot of both....then just snuff. Try using Copenhagen snuff. Put it in there when ur high and have cottonmouth...and i think you get something crazy like 300x the amount of nicotine you would get from a cigarette...you feel nice.

I just started rolling my own...its a lot cheaper, even know the federal tax on ROL (Roll you own) or loose tobacco went up April 1st from $1.98 a pound to $24.78!!

I was wondering why when I said fuck paying $6+ per pack why a pouch of bugler cost me $3.50.

Commit lozenges are now cheaper than cigarettes. They do work, however if you can manage to quit cold turkey do it, because IMO the lozenges are more addictive than cigs. Much safer though.

I quite smoking cigs 2 years ago before that I had been smoking for more than 15 years...i didnt use any extras you just have to come to terms with the fact that you cant stop thinking about smoking, its actually easy not lighting a cigarette once you just settle with the fact that it will be on your mind all the time for a long time and then one day its not...keep it simple: you cant quit thinking about it but its easy not doing it...thinking is ok, lighting is not...:noway:

I WILL NEVER EVER EVER SMOKE A CIGARETTE AGAIN - FUCK NICOTINE ITS BABYLONIAN POISON MADE TO MAKE YOU A SLAVE.
Ironic that tobacco companies actually succeeded in convincing people that cigs are a sign of freedom with Marlboro Man etc. when its actually a sign of slavery to their product!:fsu:

Right on, dude. I bow before the master! Two years ago? Man you are an inspiration. I'm feeling the bite for one right now, but it's more like a bug bite; once you get past the initial drama of it all, things are soon forgotten. Of course, this couldn't happen without copious amounts of pot which I am going to also have to give up.

It's always friggin' sumpthin'... First it was hard drugs. Then it was booze. Then cigarettes. And now pot.

I admit it. I need to quit because my short-term memory is on the Department of the Interior's Extinction Watch List. Maaan. What a major drag.

that chantix stuff sounds crazy.. i just read some articles and im kinda curious now.. seems like it turns into an acid trip after about one week on it.. Well i wont know till i try it :D

Good luck on the quitting. For me the gum works great.. i bought the 4mg and just cut the pieces in half to save money.. I was able to go smoke free from day 1 and the gum addiction is weird but nothing compared to ciggarettes.. If you dont have the will power, try the gum and ask yourself again about a week on it. the cravings go down exponentially in my opinion..

Cold turkey is still best.. no way around that.

a volcano can also help you to quit smoking tofuckko

i have quit for 3 days now , 3 WHOLE days lol , but i am higher than ever.

I do feel much less of a body stone with the volcano , but i think that is the nicotine craving killing my buzz.

It is still very difficult with a vaporizer , but if you just hate smoking pure weed , this is the answer , definately gives a better effect than smoking pure weed.

You will still feel something missing when u vape , but that is just cuz u normally get a thc rush and nicotine rush at same time.

With vaping it's only the thc.

All hail the volcano:yeahthats

i will report back in 2 weeks. I have noticed getting up in the morning is easier.

I love having my sense of smell and taste. I can smell my bong, smell my ash tray, the pot taste better(when its not trash then its worse), food taste better. I will be a month cig free Wednesday. Sometime after blazing up ill daze off and ill think to myself "i wish i would have never started smoking".Goodluck to everyone that recently quit, hang in there.Congrats to everyone thats been non smoking for a continual basis. Im to the point where i dont even chew gum or eat my mints anymore, i do think about smoking often but i dont want too, feels good to not be a slave anymore :joint:

I just wana say - YOU CAN DO THIS.

It ain't easy. But it gets easier, after the first few days.

Even years later - ya still kinda want a ciggarette. Sometimes, just for a second.
Or two.

When I quit, (The last time) I bought a quater pound of good commecial and a 1000W switchable ballast and took up a new hobby. My goal was not to be grumpy. Ok, so I missed the goal.

(And about the "Last time I quit" - It took a hella lotta tries - but seeing my dad with his o2 tank, gasping for air - - I gotta try to do better.)

If you think nicoteen patches will help - don't be afraid to try. It's a substitution - and smoking - and the associated habits that go with it are more of the mental stimulis than the nicoteen fix, but breaking any part of the chain is a start.

3 days of bad cravings - couple more of passing cravings then your past the hard part.

It will be the best and maybe the hardest week you have done in a long time. But when I look back, it was a personal statement - and achievment. I can even hang with smokers and not get pissy - but there are times when it's harder than others.

I''d like a ciggy right now, but wouldn't.

Let's a light a bowl of bud and not a ciggy!

I have a recipe for a surefire way of quiting. You will need...

one 16 oz cup.
1 ashtray (with many smokes out in it)
1 bucket.
15 oz of water.

Take ashtray contents, pour into cup.
Add water to cup till full.
Place bucket under your mouth.
Drink from cup. (Don't swollow)
Spit out into bucket.
Repeat till you are ready to throw up.

You will never again touch a cig. Trust me, it works.

With your new found free time, you can hit the weed more. It's a win win!

I quit a looong time ago, because...it stole people I love from me...& because I love making out :D with a face not an ashtray lol ...among other more serious reasons.

SMOKING STINKS. make up YOUR MIND, and let it go :D
:yeahthats

My older brother quit after a lifetime of smoking. Then he dropped dead after a year. Fuck it.If I want to smoke,I am going to.But it does make me feel shitty. So I am going to try to quit again. But this time I am not going to torture myself.I don't smoke in my car or house, because even if you are a smoker, you know it stinks up everything.
