don't know if I can be much help, since im a newbie also, but from what I have read here, it seems that you might wanna stay away from your tap water if it ppms are at 600. that's extremely high, what is the ph of your tap?you might wanna think about using some other type of water souce. hope this help even a lil bit. good luck

I use rain water, or the water from my dehydrator.

Well water if you can get it maybe better also. Ours is low PPM and what is it in is not necessarily bad, (I think?)

Sometimes plants are stronger than you think, do the best you can and try again, each time seems to get better.

you can always try growing some bag seed to see if you can get away with it, but 600 ppm is very bad! no one will be able to tell you what works in your situation you will just have to try & see what works. if the experiment fails you know exactly what you need to get.

i really dont see what peoples aversion to getting a filter is anyway. after spending hundreds on lights & equipment for a PROPER grow, what is another $100 for a filter that will last for years & pay for itself after the 1st good harvest?

A lot of chemical treatments meant to be added to tap water to remove chlorine are nothing more than sodium chloride...common table salt. Not good for plants.

Is the 600ppm right out of the tap or after allowing the chlorine to evaporate for 24 hours? Fill up your bath tub, let it sit for at least 24 hours and take the reading. This should help, if not I would recomend using bottled water (distilled) for at least half of your water.

You can make a bootleg water filter out of the Mr Clean car wash kit for 20 bucks. Search for it, its somewhere on the forums.
