maui waui - nirvana?

wow Josh1, great info.

I wonder what it was hybridized with... I only assume there's non Hawaiian genetics, and skunk seems like a likely contender.

Maui Waui.. wow.. I had one seed back in 1988 in Texas. Was a female and grew over 8 feet. had to tie it to a huge stake so it wouldn't break. got a pound and a half from it.. Some of the best smoke ever..

I have 3 early special plants outdoor and its the greatest crap i ever grow. These plants simply refuse to get bigger and propably wont yield shit.

My buddy has early girls from HGF in the same spot and theyre doing really well. early special is supposed to be a copy of early girl but this is totally different.

I think its not one of the better strains of nirvana but i dont think ill buy their products again.

Yes, it is a skunk. As a matter of fact I know that Mau keeps a special male Skunk that he uses in a lot of his strains, so yeah its a skunk, but a very potent and good one.

Another thing, many people diss Nirvana cause they make quality beans affordable for everyone. Mau was one of the breeders for Positronics and you can bet that a lot of Nirvana beans can trace their lineage to the Positronics stock.

hey captain.koons if you want some jamaican lambs bread, Caribe from Cannabiogen is a backcross of Jamaica x Jamaica/NL5/Haze, haven tried it but CBG's stock i've tried is amazing.
i've read the same about island strains that don't do as well somwehere else...but that doesn't mean them wont turn out right and be special!

saludos

Maybe I'll try that, I emailed them and asked about the Jamaican they used.

Last year I exchanged words with Mau, the breeder from Nirvana concerning this strain. I grew it last year and posted a few pics it here. Maui Waui from Nirvana is great, as a matter of fact I used some Maui Waui on my first cross. I crossed MW with some awesome Columbian weed. I have pictures of those as well in my 09 grow. Here is what the man himself from Nirvana says about his Maui Waui.

All I can say about Maui Waui from Nirvana is that is very tasty, smells heavily like citrus, orangey like smell. Everyone that tried that strain loved it.

J0sh1, when you grew the Maui Waui did it have the yellow, blue, and purple colors to it when it finished? Last time I smoked maui, I had one little bud that looked like the rainbow. Nirvana gear rocks for the buck, I have grown a couple of the white strains and I was very pleased, my ak-48 was great. Would love to hear more about this one as well as the delicious sounding jamaican you spoke of captain.koons. :joint:

It's Wowie x Skunk #1 ,, yes it's OK , but takes a long time to flower :canabis:

otherwise try Spice [Mr Nice] Hawaiian sativa x Hawaiian indica,, :joint:

Edit: The best seeds from Nirvana are the Haze#19 x Skunk,, IMO..

Having lived on Maui for many years (but not growing), I can say that Maui Wowie grows best in Hawaii due to the climate, soil (volcanic), and probably the fact that it was grown organically back in the day. The smoke was the smoothest, sweetest I've ever had to this day. Likewise the famous Puna Butter and other strains I had from Hawaii.

Of course all Hawaiian strains are imported. My understanding is that when the GIs came back from 'Nam they brought back Thai strains that were supposedly crossed with another probably something from Afghanistan (I could be wrong). Same thing happened in Norcal producing that fine sinsemilla we all know and love (purple?).

I'd say there's definitely some indica in Maui Wowee, as the body stone is very strong, but balanced.

It would be interesting to know how the strain fares under other growing conditions (indoors - poor soil outdoors, etc.)

I'm looking for Maui Waui though.

I might try Somaui from Soma, or Spice. I wanted to get Puna Butter from TH but they discontinued it.

hi all first pics looks very sk expresive secound well less but mauie the sativa as most rember her was a fruity sweet tasting maui line that grew like a pure sat and i can tell you all i have yet to come across any thing like her since.

I have spoken to a person who i became friends with in great detail about the maui lines of old and of new few there now run the old lines most run a lot of wat you all grow and green harvest has a lot to do with it.

Saying a lines maui is like saying this is kush and kush verys from valley to valley as do the maui lines each grower that still grows the old school lines that could of been in there family for over 30 years will very from one growers lines the next growers lines.

The real maui wowie came from a part of maui i wont post were as maui is a small place and its no longer avaluble trust me if it was id have it.

Also a myth you guys need to get over is any thing grown in hawiia is going to be better becouse of there soil not true good cannabis is as good as its genetics you cant grow a shit line in say asia and take it to maui and if you expect it to improve wont happen it still will smoke shit go back to the basics taste smoke quolity so on is genetic and only genetic rember that.

The mauie that was being exported out of maui in the erly 80s was special lite green sweet tasteing potent and if you smoked the real deal or grew her you know wat im talking about.
